What do you guys think: Are the fans to blame because we refuse to see Cane with anyone except Lilly or are the writers at fault because they are out of ideas? I’d really like to find out what the backstory is behind him leaving the show. I’m a Lane so yes I disappointed by this. I’ll miss his dimples. Everything I’ve read & heard about him is that he is a super nice guy with everyone so I have a hard time believing he wouldn’t work with Beth (Traci)
Well I for the most part hate to see when an actor or actress is fired from the show, unless the character he or she played happens to be someone that gets on my nerves, but I can understand that trying to write a compelling subplot for the multitude of characters that comprises “The Young and the Restless” cast is quite a daunting a challenge.
I’m annoyed with some of the firings over the past yr. Would’ve rather see Abby gone instead of Cane, Dina, Anna, Graham, Mia. Fen, Adrian, Arturro, Chelsea stink. This writer is all over the place. Why do we have re-write what was in the past just cuz he didn’t like it. I am very happy with Traci & Kevin though.
Knowing that you think he is a hottie — I extend my sympathies, Ali. But for the past few years, Cane has felt like filler… neither good nor bad and I just haven’t cared about what he is up to in GC/GJ. The writers should have been more decisive and maybe I would feel differently now. But he just seems so aimless and boring. But again, my sympathies… … … until he returns in late 2020/early 2021 ;^)
Yes, Ali. Focus your energies on hottie Cane returning with an all new compelling hottie storyline in 2001, after the current mucky-mucks are fired…

You DID predict we would loose Cane this year, but in death! And in fairness to Cane, it did take him a while to reach The End with his all new unexpected crackerjack (did Cane ever walk the midway with Traci at the carnival?) romance mid year! Since abandoned…
Cane wasnt doing much anyway. The whole Winters family disappeared after Lily left,except for Devon and Nate
Since the character was introduced, I have never warmed to any of his storylines. I usually like an Australian accent, but the character Cane mumbles. I mostly can’t understand what he is saying, and he presents it with no inflection. I didn’t like the pairing with illy. I would like to have seen him with Abby, even back in the day when Abby had a little more spunk. That would have been great. I voted bad idea, however I’m over Lilly and Cain. If that is where they would have been headed, I definitely would not have been interested in seeing that mess of a relationship.
I agree…Cane and Lily are very boring. I am so glad that didn’t happen. I loved when he was with Tracey. That made his character very interesting, even when he was with Victoria I found him interesting. Anyone but Lily. I would love to have seen Cane stay on and Colin return as I mentioned last week. I would love to see them working together. There are a million story lines the writers could have come up with Cane that don’t have to involve Lily or Neil.
Even though there hasn’t been a good story for Cane in the past while, that does not mean Y&R should get rid of Cane. That is the writers fault for not knowing how to write this character back into relevant storylines. Cane can play a huge part with the Chancellor family and as well as part of the Winter’s clan.
