I was happy to see Brytni’s intro for one of the episodes last week. She did such a great job!

Cricket was wearing John Lennon glasses at the pool party. They were popular at one time

And the award of the week goes to a poolside preppy-casual Miguel! No pool party is complete without his fudge brownies! Ali, I’m ready to co-author the #BringMiguelBack petition!

I agree. Let’s bring back the Rosales family and have Lola’s mom introduce her new boyfriend, Miguel.

Bryton and Brytni do make a great couple—even their names have symmetry. Perhaps it was meant to be.

Theo! I miss you! Now there’s a character that let’s me know it’s 2020. Well, 2019–when life was more normal. I’m looking forward to more Theo on my screen, someday…

Boy, I forgot how rigid Olivia was. She kept Nate from Malcolm, of all people, and his father Nate. What gives, Olivia?

I didn’t remember Olivia being married to Malcolm. Just remember her being a doctor and Dru’s sister. She was attracted to Neil

Oh good, next week will be dedicated to the Fisher/Baldwin family. Now we will see just how much Gloria’s reputation has been maligned over the years.

Bring back Gloria! Bring back the fun and energy! And stop torturing her!

Ellen, I agree Gloria was so entertaining. I’d love to see her team up with Chloe and Kevin in a madcap scheme. Also, bring back John Silva to be a love interest for Gloria.

This should be a good week, this past week Summer fun was boring!

So this is ā€œsummer funā€ week, right? Is Adam still in that jail cell with the wrinkled shirt and mussed up hair? Not very summery or very fun. No replies needed, just asking for a friend, ya know, just in ā€œCaseā€.

The park set used to be so much better than it is today. When Victor and NIkki and were walking at the park there were big trees that looked real and you could even see cars in the parking lot in the background. Very realistic looking. Today the park looks pretty cheesy, I am sorry to say. There is this big wall around the park that look like it is made from lattice. Today’s park scenery feels like the characters are indoors whereas the old set really gave the feeling and illusion of a natural outdoor environment.

I remember a brief period where trees were actually blowing in the far distance painted backdrop background! They were in a real park, set aside from the standard Kay Chancellor memorial town square actors hit your mark spot. And yes, real cars in a parking lot! It got embarrassing the way Y&R seemed to feature the park everyday with everyone jogging in place in the same spot, convening in the identical place, etc. It’s a big bright, expansive, beautiful world out there and for one brief shinning moment Y&R took the mini-cam with them!
Who remembers this?

It looked like Victor and NIkki were in a real park, but I guess it wasn’t. I don’t remember real parks being used. That would be cool! You’re right about the park scenes being silly before with the characters always running into each other all the time, and rarely more than 2 characters would be there at the same time. It was never natural or believable.

Dianna, I don’t expect you to believe me, and I can’t swear to it, but I believe I recognized the unique layout of a park right around the corner from CBS where these scenes were taped. I won’t elaborate and I can’t imagine why the show would go to the trouble, but I’m sure I recognized its foliage and trails. This period did not last too long, but it encompassed more than just a few episodes.
Now that I’ve lost all credibility with chatters… Signed, GARY in Los Angeles

It is Saturday, July 11 and the latest news is that Y&R is scheduled to resume production on Tuesday. That does not leave a lot of time to see if a Disasters Week is in the works.

Ought to be able to follow this blow by blow on computer over production information blackout. Several days ago Eric Braden posted everybody was heading over to CBS the next day for COVID testing. He was not timid about going back to work.

It will be really strange In a good way to watch when the new episodes resume. The classics episodes have reminded me of several storylines I had forgotten or missed over the years. Since most of the characters will be in the new episodes, I will have a new (or renewed) familiarity with them. Looking forward to that aspect of the new shows!

Yes, with bigger budgets the sets weren’t so stifling. Now we go from Newman to Jabot. Then, to Society or The Grand Phoenix. Also in current times, characters’ homes usually only show one room and part of a hallway or entry. In the older episodes, homes were much more spacious.

Yes! Before I found out what this week’s theme was, I was thinking I’d like to see a pool party! And July 1st & 4th had passed but since we’re shut down we’d miss a celebration episode. But Y&R read my mind!

Gloria was so sweet today in her cotton candy pink halter top and capris. She was beaming as the hostess. She gave such a tender, encouraging words to Sharon. And a lovely, warm engagement announcement for Lauren and Michael. It was all sunny and bright, except for a storm cloud brewing over Jack and Ashley. But the sun prevailed at the Abbott’s Fourth of July party.

Not everything was sunshine and rainbows; Drucilla was incensed over the possibility of maternal bonds luring Devon back to his biological mother; JT was at wit’s end juggling his responsibilities between his baby momma and his real love; and we had the menacing presence of Brad Carlton plying his Machiavellian charm on a vulnerable Sharon.

I miss Gloria! She would liven up the show. Would be fun to have her back—and more of Michael and Lauren. If Kevin and Chloe make amends to Adam I can try to like them again too. Hah! Unlikely…
