I still watch the classic episodes of Y&R, but I miss new episodes of Y&R. I wonder as many do when Y&R air new episodes? I can’t wait to find out!
I have been enjoyng the classic episodes ,some of them were really great to see again, but I am ready for new shows. B&B has done a great job putting out new shows. Y&R is back in production I read but no date for new episodes. Maybe next week
Oh! And I miss the Genoa City Soaps. I think I still have a sliver remaining.
Did you ask about what we would like to see in your podcast nook? I really like that black and white “perspective” print at Crimson Lights. I will choose that if they ever auction.
You asked about those of us who have watched from the very beginning. I have. Why? Because I was a long time CBS soap watcher, Guiding Light, As the World Turns, Edge of Night. When this one started, it was another CBS soap. Before mainstream VCR use, I had to skip some periods. Slow moving storylines and few cast changes made it easy to catch up.
Ali, in last week’s podcast, you mentioned your tablecloth. I have Nicki&Victor’s couch from the ranch version that had the big piano just in the front door, then down a couple of steps to the tan couch. I have that one and it’s pillows.
I haven’t watched the whole episode yet where Victor meets his father but I just watched the beginning of it. I forgot that Victor’s father lives in Toronto. That is so cool! I love the opening scene of seeing the C.N tower and Lake Ontario.
I forgot to mention I appreciate when the show has Canadian ties for the Canadian viewers. Lauren’s son Scott also lives in Toronto . I remember when Jason Thompson first came onto the show and he went to Toronto on a business trip and brought back Victoria her favourite desserts from the Portuguese bakery as there are many there.
It was an emotional episode . Victor even cries!
I had the privilege of meeting Scott Reeves a long time ago. I know Ellen has been mentioning that we have been seeing a lot of the actor in the classics. It was at a restaurant if I remember correctly. I got to get my picture taken with him sitting down. He was even better looking in person if you can believe that, as he is a very good looking guy. I have an autographed picture of him that I bought while I was there. What I don’t have is the picture of him and I! I don’t remember why.… Read more »
“That Boy” Ryan McNeil is the “it” boy of soaps? I don’t know what that means. It came into my head. I think it means that he is suddenly the talk of the town for the moment with everyone wanting a piece of him. But it won’t last. New is on the horizon! Can you be an ‘it’ girl, as well? Soap opera scandal has Days of our Lives Scott and Melissa a true love soap opera Romeo & Juliet with lots of publicity as such. Then they divorce with Scott publicly saying she cheated on him! I didn’t watch… Read more »
No way! I did not know that Scott and Melissa divorced and that she cheated on him! I am so out of the loop. I never heard that. I am surprised as you say it happened decades ago. They made a nice looking couple. I always found Melissa to be annoying on Days of Our Lives, as she never smiled. She always seemed to have the same blank face all the time. I can’t believe she would cheat on Scott. He was so good looking and seemed to be a good guy. I wonder who she cheated with? When I… Read more »
I’m not a psychologist but I play one for TV, and I think Scott & Melissa with the storybook romance were so caught up in their young love, that when the girl surprisingly cheated on the boy, “that boy” couldn’t take it and got back at her by blabbing to the press, but quickly regretted it. They officially seperated, but maybe there wasn’t a divorce and they got back together? Isn’t it true that S&M were originally a couple on Days of Our Lives? Did Scott leave the show because he didn’t want to further hang with “Missy”, as Scott… Read more »
Little Abby was very cute. I had never seen her before. I didn’t realize Noah was blonde when he was little. Good little actor, as he had a hard role to play during Cassie’s hospital scenes.
I liked seeing all the little kids. Mattie & Charlie, Nate, Lilly, Cassie. They were all too cute!
Me too
I noticed Y&R has shown many episodes that tie in with previous episodes we have seen. Victoria posing nude for the magazine. We previously saw the episode where Ryan is looking at the magazine with the photos published. Another example is Britney when she was an exotic dancer. We previously saw her dancing at the club and this week we hear Michael talking to her mobster boyfriend (forgot his name) about her being electrocuted on the stripper pole. A few months ago we saw Ashley taping herself confessing that Victor was the real father of Abby. This week we see… Read more »
I had not seen the whole show of Cassie’s death before, it definitely made me cry. I thought all the actors did a great job. Two of my episodes were preempted this week. Between last week and this, I think I saw JT kissing 3 different women! Even though I thought Victor’s father was cruel and hurtful toward him, I found myself admiring George Kennedy as he closely resembled my father, who passed away many years ago, and I just couldn’t help but make the comparison between the two. I still kind of wish Y&R had picked a storyline, a… Read more »
Sandra, you are the sensitive type, and I hadn’t seen Cassie’s death either. I was distancing myself from it, but the part where Cassie pronounced herself Noah’s future guardian angel for life got me all misty. Interesting how this precious Annie would grow up in another form to become such a wise-acre with her own horrible gossip talk show, GC Buzz. I missed the JT years with all the different shades of blonde buzz. I don’t not like JT, but I fast forwarded through all his many retro episodes as I feel it is too late for me to get… Read more »
I remember he accepted responsibility for his crimes and was willing to face the consequences. I imagine attempted murder of four women and one man would probably result in a lengthy prison term.
Too sensitive for my own good. That’s always been my problem. Oddly enough I did the same as you, fast forwarded through the JT scenes. Hmmmm. This goes to my point of hopping around time and space with these episodes. Unless you were truly invested in each character that ever graced the screen of Y&R, I can see the GP becoming disinterested.
JT was a kind young man and a good friend to many. They moved him in and out of relationships, but he was never intentionally hurtful to anyone. He worked with Paul solving crimes in GC for quite a stretch of time, definitely wearing a white hat. The character assassination they did on him at the end was completely unacceptable. Stupid move on the part of the writers to wreck a character with such a long history and deep connections.
Thank you Ellen for the positive JT summary.
I see that!
I always had a crush on JT. I wasn’t a fan of his long hair or his last storyline. The abusive story was good but then how it was caused by a brain tumour…no! I don’t know if he can ever be redeemed now.
That’s it exaxctly for me. Unless there is something I felt gripping in the past that I have held on to like a dog with a bone (some may know the ones!), it’s ’emotional filler’ and sometimes I don’t have the patience for revisiting that time & space with a particular character. In current time, even if you’re not especially invested in someone that person’s actions are a blank slate where anything can happen and affect someone else so it still has pull you in value. I just completely finished Cassie’s death and this is so inapproperate to say, but… Read more »
Ali, you got yourself some Nadia’s Theme at the moment of Cassie’s transition…
But isn’t it true that Cassie, at death’s door, climbed out of her hospital bed and went out on the town only to return most likely worse than before and that may have helped kill her?
Michael Fairman did a video interview (on YT) with Joshua, Sharon & Camyrn about Cassie’s death if anyone is interested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-_wUz1YZIA. I find he is a very good interviewer & knows his stuff. I’m going to watch the interview after I watch the tv episode. Soap opera digest has a good podcast as well.
Quarantine looks of some soap stars https://www.soapsindepth.com/gallery/abc/stars-quarantine-looks . How Ryan (Scott Reeves) looks really shocked me
Great link! You’re right—“that boy Ryan” was unrecognizable! He looks so different from his former baby faced self. I thought Christian LeBlanc looked very sweet with his matching little dog.
I saw Ryan on a show called the The Resident. He was only there for about 5 minutes but I recognized the voice & looked him up. He looked much older but no beard that time. Ellen, what do you think of Peter B’s quarantine look?
Pretty scruffy! We’re used to such a clean cut Jack all dressed up in a suit. It’s a wake up call to see them all in bad lighting, bad camera angles, with no professional hair and makeup! They look like regular people. Ewwwwwwww. Just kidding. But it is a big difference. I guess that’s why there are awards for lighting, hair and makeup…
He looks like Charles Manson. I don’t like his look. Very surprising to see him look like that
OH MY. I may have PTSD. I’m so used to defending Adam that I forgot I should be defending DANIEL over Cassie’s death. Why does this show like to kill innocent children and demonize people who didn’t commit a crime? Cassie was driving, right? I guess Daniel was guilty of underage drinking—well, is that the message of this story? Alcohol =manslaughter? I hope today’s writer’s room would do a better job with teen storylines. These trips down memory lane have been eye opening. The acting is quite good though—the whole cast is great here. That must be what saved it… Read more »
Killing off moppets must be very popular or they wouldn’t be offering up an encore on Newman favorites week.
Yep! Daniel was innocent… and Nick knew it!
So Cassie whispered that she was driving to Nick? And Nick hunts Daniel down anyway and drags him back to GC? And then Nick cheats on Cassie’s mother with Daniel’s mother, of all people? I was a viewer back then but this seems insane to me now. I’m ready to find Nick on the mean streets of Genoa Junction and tell him what’s what. His pain doesn’t give him a free pass to abuse Daniel and Sharon. These Newmans really need an excellent live-in therapist. Therapy sessions have been missing from the show for years! That’s a plot device I… Read more »
Yes! That about sums it up aright. And if I remember correctly, the twist was: The audience didn’t know WHAT Cassie whispered to Nick until well-after Nick had his fill of making Daniel suffer. So, we didn’t know that Nick KNEW she was driving the car. It was a sweeps climax moment, where Daniel was about to go to trial or jail, and Nick finally confessed what Cassie had told him, and took the heat off Daniel.
The soaps always think they are of a higher storyline calling than that of saving the life of a precious soap opera child. (See Cassie screen shot close-up)
I really don’t see how Sharon is ever going to be able to come back from this. If only we could peek into the future to a time when this mother will know peace…
Chatters given a sumptuous feast to the eye Tuesday with the re-open of the legendary Genoa City Athletic Club Restaurant – its massive swinging entrance structure showcase just how cosmopolitan the junction has become since Brad Elliot was first dumped into its town square on the back of a hay truck in March of 1973. I’ll be brief: This is fine dinning. As far as I’m concerned about the only reason to step inside Society just down the way would be for the pretty pink confection of a strawberry parfait, with a pretty pink proprietress to greet you at the… Read more »
Lest we not forget the unisex sauna. This was where the exquisite Gloria met Lauren’s white knight and effectively torpedoed any chances she would escape the dastardly clutches of Jack and his nefarious henchmen at Jabot.
I made note of that GCAC revolving door too!

Michael Baldwin, Esq.
Why did Michael ever stop introducing himself this way?! It was excellent, excellent!!!
We all need to do it.
No Katherine, Abby is not a “dirty little secret.” She is a human being, equal to every other. Regardless of what Ashley did to get pregnant, every person deserves to know who their biological parents are. Are you listening Nick and the rest of the complicit Newmans? If a bio parent isn’t able, willing or suitable to raise a child, another family can step in. But you don’t lie. It’s never healthy or right. Both Christian and Johnny are going to have issues when they find out about their parentage. The truth doesn’t have to be scary. Grow the hell… Read more »
Add Sam Ashby to that list, whenever he returns from his dad’s mission on trying to find out where Colin is.
Who are Johnny & Katie’s bio parents? Are the characters actually brother & sister. I still don’t understand that parentage.
Katie’s father is Billy and his mother is Victoria but while Johnny’s father is Billy his mother is Chelsea.
