In 1988 i think christine were rape in the same apartment 5 years earlier her rapist went to jail after that
I picked Michael digging into Christine’s apartment, as many of us have been waiting to see that episode. I remember finding it so intriguing when it first aired! Christian LeBlanc is such a great actor and that story line was very compelling. I remember when Michael went to rent out the apartment. At a later time he meets with the building manager and obtains blue prints of the building so that he knows exactly where to tunnel into Christine’s closet. I can’t remember what he told the manager to get the blue prints. All in all this story line made… Read more »
Michael’s tunnel & the wedding was my pick! I like everything. I didn’t even recognize Michael with the facial hair. I wish we had seen what happened when he broke in but it just ended! I also loved Neil & Dru’s wedding, especially when they fed each other cake & the guests threw the rice. The rice was a surprise to me & I laughed when Neil slipped. I wonder if that was scripted. Dru’s lingerie was pretty. Katherine’s earring caught my eye. A large pearl but it had multicoloured stones around it. Jill was so funny. I watched the… Read more »
There is something I wanted to share and I realize I can tie it into Chat conversations of the last last few days: Dead good girl at 104 Olivia DeHavilland is now saying that in the 1930s playing bad girls was popular, “but I found them such a bore. As an actress it is so much more of a challenge to play the good girl.” When was the last time you Chatters ever heard an actor say that? I’ll tell you. Never! What is always said is how much more fun it is to be the bad girl. Fun, maybe,… Read more »
For the record I did not, upon reflection, despise Chris because she was good, what I despise is that they had to make Chris, one half of the star couple, into such a romanticized, unrealistic, male chauvinist pig’s concept of the ideal wife. It was as if the writers were unable to extracate their minds out of the 19th century. Chris was such a wallflower that you get the idea that if Snapper had not made that phone call her world would crumple right beneath her feet. This was a woman who could not cope without Snapper holding her hands… Read more »
Although I didn’t vote for episode one and two, I thought I would let you know, I began watching Young and Restless in 1973 in the summertime with my friend, Nancy and her mom. When the original episodes aired, I was in school and VCRs were not readily available. In my opinion, Young and Restless first episodes did depict a portion of life in the United States. Like Chris, many girls dreamed of finding a good husband and having children. My experience was schools did not encourage women to go into fields where they would be working full-time. I was… Read more »
Chris took home economics!
I voted for Katherine‘s face lift episode. I liked being reminded of the close relationship Liz Foster had with Katherine. I was impressed with Jeanne Cooper‘s willingness to have something so personal witnessed by her many fans. In a previous episode not shown during any Classics week, Katherine was frustrated with her appearance and used clips with a string to tighten her face. She let her audience know this was demeaning and she was longing for her youth. At the time, face lift surgery was innovative and riskier. Also, it was also good to be reminded how deep the competition… Read more »
Episodes 1 & 2 of The Young And The Restless because I wanted to shock people with my answer.
I didn’t think I would really care about eps 1 & 2, but they drew me right in. I liked the style of the show back then—it had a gritty feeling. Definitely my favorite episode of the week. Ali— I believe the yellow in that kitchen is called harvest gold. It was all the rage in kitchen appliances in the 1970s. Many families went with either harvest gold or avocado green in those days. I remember it well—big lumpy vegetable colored kitchen appliances. So groovy!
Fab, but in many ways I like a nice classic white.
You’re right!!! I just Googled it. Harvest gold even has it’s own Wikipedia entry that says: “Harvest gold is a shade of orange and yellow. It was popular with kitchen and other appliances in the 1970s, along with brown, burnt orange, and avocado green.”
Episodes 1 and two are a treasure! I was hooked from the beginning and would definitely have come back for more if I’d been watching in the ‘70s.
Oh course! I voted for Devon and Hilary’s wedding!
