I strongly vote for Phick. I was so bored with Nick and Sharon. Once the novelty wears off of their reconciliation, the chemistry and fun is gone. I get so bored watching those two and I feel the same about Phyllis and Jack. Phyllis and Nick have lots of fun banter, chemistry and are just very luring to watch. If they want to break them up then let’s start with new people to pair them off with instead of watching reruns of the same couples.
There are lots of fun possibilities for Nick with interesting possibilities for drama.

I voted forget it, as I have been mentioning that I would love to see NIck with Christine. Nick getting together with Christine would be totally unexpected which makes it interesting right off the bat. Christine being older than Nick is a different dynamic for him as well as the other male characters on the show who are all with younger women. The greatest reason for Christine and NIck to begin dating is it would totally send Phyllis in a tailspin! Phyllis despises Christine and this new relationship would spark their previous rivalry! We are always talking about tying in… Read more »
I feel like I probably just wasted my breath on this comment as I know there are not a lot of Christine fans. I know Ali has said in the past that we need to mix up the couples every now and then. Maybe now is as good a time as any.
Plus……..it would bring in Paul, at least a mention.

I voted Fix It. I love Phyllis and Nick and nothing against Nick and Sharon or Phyllis and Jack, but I just love the interaction between Phyllis and Nick and was not ready for it to end. The playful side was so much fun and at times it felt like it was just actors joking and having fun with each other. They can make each other laugh and as a result make me smile and laugh.

I say forget it. I think Y & R should bring back Danny Romalotti, Phyllis’s first love. If Michael Damian isn’t available for the part, Y&R can re-cast it. Daniel and Lucy could return too. I would love to see Lily, Chris and Traci’s reactions to Danny’s return. Bringing back these characters would give the Y & R writers a chance to use history to create drama and extend generations in GC.
Don’t really care about D.Romalotti (although he and Tessa could superstar-duet!), but I love the idea of Daniel and Lucy returning. Phyllis really needs more peeps now that Summer’s gone and Nick and Jack are… idk, Nick and Jack. I’ve been wanting to have Avery back, also. I do surprisingly like the Phyllis/Amanda friendship… although it seems a bit odd and I keep waiting for the snide other shoe to drop from Phyllis… can she actually have a true, girls’ girl friendship?

Phyllis seems shrill and immature around Nick—and perhaps just a little bit more reflective and reasonable around Jack. It’s all in the writing of course. If putting Phyllis with Jack allows her to stop being so childish and egotistical, let’s do it. And Jack needs a to be drawn into the action. The Abbott family is about to fade out entirely like the Brooks’ if the show doesn’t bring them back onto canvas in a big way. Move Phyllis into the mansion and recast Kyle & Summer if you have to. Bring Keemo and his family to town no matter… Read more »
I don’t see Phyllis undergo a Pygmalion like transformation that will make her an accepted candidate for soulmate as far as Jack is concern, and, I don’t think that is something we want to see happen in the first place.
I’m not suggesting a transformation would occur. But any improvement in the current version of Phyllis would be welcome. I used to find the character smart, funny and edgy. Now she just gets on my last nerve.

Forget it. Can’t see where this relationship would go if “fixed” but back in the same, vicious circle- ending up right back where they are. They are not a “destined for sharing their golden years together” couple. Didn’t their resurrection start as a “let’s enjoy each other, no strings” kinda thing? That’s what they do best, and it’s been great fun until having to face, not simply brush away, their separate lives/issues creeping in. I agree w/Gary that for Phyllis, Nick is quite compatible. And she wants him: even the big ol’ whiny baby that he’s been… but that doesn’t… Read more »
Unfortunately, Jack is not the solution. Phyllis may not be the ideal companion for Nick but Jack is the polar opposite of Phyllis at this stage. Remember how dismissive he was of Sally because of her machinations? He wanted a someone who was safe and antiseptic. Yet, what did he tell Phyllis about the Sally that drew him to her the most: that she was another version of Phyllis. So, let me get this straight: you wanted Sally because she reminds you of Phyllis yet when she behaves like Phyllis you react with absolute opprobrium. That should be a clue… Read more »
Yeah, I’m not too sure Jack is the forever end-game for Phyllis, either… unless she zombies into “reflective aging w/wisdom and loneliness” like Jack has. I suppose they could then find Stepford-like bliss together… but, nah. So what’s in the cards for Phyllis? Idk, but at this point, def not Nick.

I can’t see Phyllis in a relationship with anyone currently on the canvas whom she wouldn’t steam roll other than Nick! This sudden unhappiness of Phyllis’s is so unprovoked that it doesn’t make any sense. She and Nick have a deeper understanding of one another than she has even with Jack. And the 2 of them are really cute and playful together! Unless she’s going through menopause that is causing crazy mood swings, they need to straighten things out between Nick and Phyllis and get them back “in sync”!
Woah, throwing menopause out there at Phyllis. How did we get there. Why is this break up on Phyllis? It was Nick who became unhappy. To me it was Nick and his whiny behavior about his family. That gave Phyllis and me whip lash. This Nick, Phyllis is better off without.
Phyllis has been over reacting since Summer left town. She isn’t happy. I doubt if either Nick or jack can help. Maybe she needs to be alone for awhile to get herself together. She could use some therapy but probably not with Sharon LOL.
“Steamroll” is thecperfect term for how Phyllis plows through and over lives and people.

It is very hard to know what to say…
I can only observe that Phyllis is going to have to search far & wide to ever find another partner to be as compatible with her as Nick. Nick has grown to have a sense of wry humor concerning Phyllis which allows her to vent as she pleases and get lost in herself. It will be near impossible for another man to long term show Phyllis the patience, kindness and understanding that Nick does. Dispite what Phyllis might say to that statement.
Not Jack.
Gary, you are absolutely right, there is no one that is more compatible for Phyllis than Nick. The two of them have a natural rapport; they synthesize to the same harmony; they exists on the same astral plane; what makes Phyllis think that she can find anything in common with Jack? Jack might as well be living Mars at this point. He is more like her father than a lover. Jack is in the Geritol generation and I doubt Phyllis would be eager spending her weekends sipping down castor oil.
Phyllis never said she wanted anything with Jack. She just couldn’t take Nick’s wishy washy, woah is me pity party about not being loved best by his daddy.
She “just couldn’t take” what is a moment of indulgence and crisis for Nick. She has managed Nick’s father all this time since deciding to take up with Nick again, why now she just can’t take it anymore? Phyllis might have been the strong silent type for Nick in these weeks as he works through whatever he is going through to snap back to how he was before. Only too late. Phyllis, with her impatience has blown everything up! Phyllis’ love is conditional as she is not one to honor the “for better or worse” contract of her wedding vows,… Read more »
There was waiting that out. One minute Nick wants Phyllis to engage in conversation about his family trying to support him. Then he tells her not to talk ill of his family. Nick basically put Phyllis in a lose, lose situation. I think because he really wanted out. Phyllis does not truly have Nick’s heart. And Nick knows this and on some level so does Phyllis. So, Let It Go.
Castor oil! Age shows itself with Jack being very formal and Phyllis continuing to need to kick up her heels. Jack could try and tame Gina Tognoni but Michele Stafford, forget it. Phyllis has it so good with Nick Newman, a playful partner to match herself. This story is plot driven over character driven, as you say. I do think Y&R has done a pretty good job of making something out of nothing, however.
Phyllis, the other man’s grass is not always greener.

Fix it. The break up is forced and plot driven, not character driven. The prospects looming on the horizon are not necessarily appetizing: while Nick reunited with Sharon sounds like a broken record at least they have chemistry by contrast Phyllis with Jack is more like the Ying Yang of couples. She is a firebrand whereas Jack is an old fogey searching for the nearest rocking chair. The image of these two together is as electrifying as pining for the return of yowza music.
Jack isn’t old! He needs a good woman to be his partner . Someone new, not Phyllis or Sally.. He could be a very attentive lover and partner. Don’t put him out to pasture, find him someone he is compatbile with!

As much as I enjoy new storylines, I want Nick and Phyllis to Fix It. Their characters are absolute fun together. Phyllis however, needs to learn how to deal with those almost in-laws and support Nick. Jack hit it well when he said she was having problems with it because Nick did not make the same decisions as Phyllis many years ago with her own father.
I know this is a Soap Opera. But unless Nick plans to cut his family out of his life. How can Phyllis and Nick sustain a more emotional and personable relationship, when she told the man that she hates his family. And with good reasons of course.
