I voted yes because it’s better to leave Dominic with Devon than to leave him with Mariah. Why? While Devon may also be attached to the baby, Mariah may become “overly” attached to the baby, if ever Dominic stays with her for weeks or months. But, Devon has Amanda, a lawyer, by his side and if ever Devon refuses to follow the “contract”, Amanda will convince him to return the baby to Abby.
Don’t be so sure about Amanda convincing Devon to give the baby back. Remember she was telling him to update the contract so that if anything happens to Abby, Devon would get custody of Dominic. While Mariah may now be obsessed about the baby(which is why in real life, if you never experienced a pregnancy, you can not be a surrogate-for the exactly reason of Mariah not knowing how she would react to carry a baby). But a least she knows the baby is not biologically hers, unlike Devon-who can look at the baby and see his own features.
I say “yes” -not that it would necessarily be my choice or that I even “approve,” BUT because it’s Abby’s choice to make: period, end, done. She didn’t have to pick family, nor defend her reasons. Devon is caring, perfectly capable, and… Abby’s choice.
This is why I voted yes…it is kind of a conflict of interest for Devon and in hindsight Abby probably should have left the baby with family. But, I think Abby left Dom with Devon for a somewhat manipulative purpose. If Abby would have left him with family they would be too much in her business and hovering over her so she couldn’t leave as easily. With the baby with Devon it was easier for her to slip out without having to tell anyone in the house, if that makes sense.
That makes total sense, and I’m glad you mentioned the buttinski-ing and hovering. I also thought it to be (while clearly well-intended) much too much. Saaaah-mothering…
I voted no. Abby told Victor and Ashley she needed to give Dominic a home filled with joy, calm and love. What an unrealistic idea of a newborn’s home. Abby feels Devon has this home. As many have predicted, this will set up a custody battle between Abby and Devon. Devon and Amanda may tie the knot to assure they have a more desirable two parent home. This is when Chance will walk in and intensify the battle. Thus, giving Abby the most fierce battle she has ever encountered.
Who gives their baby away?
Bad idea. No one is following their contract. It will be a dual of money vs money.
There was no reason for Abby to give the baby to Devon. There are people that can help at the house ,even Mariah and Devon as long as Nina or Ashley is there to supervise. Even Nikki and Victor could help, but I don’t think the child needs to leave his home
I’m starting to wonder if the YR writers are intentionally trying to provoke fans about surrogacy and infant care. Why would Abby leave Dominic with Devon who has never cared for an infant? Nina and Ashley are right there in Dominic’s home! Makes no sense at all.
