Yes, Ellen, “absurd” that because Chance Chancellor suffers from emotional issues of the moment he is an unfit parent. If I were Dom I would be so depressed living over and Amandas and Devons… The Chancellor mansion is a happy enough place dispite Chance’s mood swings which are not too dark for me. Abby & Chance need to not be quivering in their boots at the idea of telling Devon to —- off
A hipster penthouse is no place to raise a child! Sex & drugs, that’s all it is.

Victoria may be an ice queen but Amelia is adorable & funny. This video shows her goofy side https://www.instagram.com/p/B-BkXgtHxI2/. I saw it last night & made me laugh.

I still think Keemo is alive. Ally had no clue about Jack coming to LA.

Keemo might be alive. He is who we all want to see. Y&R knows that. I think he faked his death to test Jack. To see if he wanted to make amends ,but I think it’s Ally sending the mystery texts

Friday’s show was one big “snoozefest!” They held us to the very end to introduce us to Jack’s granddaughter!

HENRY, I was thinking that too. All week, for the most part. Very ho-hum in GC.

I am enjoying the therapy sessions with Chance and the therapist. It is realistic that Chance would need therapy after what happened in Spain. It is also on par with people not being ashamed to seek therapy and take care of their mental health. Having said that, I like the music Y&R used for the therapy sessions and also last week when Victoria was locked out of the office. The right choice of music adds to the drama and makes the scenes that much more enjoyable.

I like the therapy sessions too but Chance has no interest in being a father. If he could he would go right back to being a spy. Hopefully that will change as he continues therapy but I’m not convinced therapy will solve all his trauma

Ally seemed genuinely surprised and like the name Jack Abbott didn’t ring a bell. I’m wondering if she has a kid, or maybe a younger sister who was sending all the texts, etc? The original photo from Vietnam has 2 women and a kid, right?

It could be an act that she doesn’t know Jack or didn’t send the texts

I wonder if Victoria is fooling Ashland with the contract he is about to sign that makes him a partner with Newman-Locke and Victoria’s co-CEO? Victoria is a smart business woman and may want to believe in her husband while still being protective of her empire. She didn’t work this long and hard to have a man come along and make a fool out of her, even if that man is her husband. I am thinking the contract might be fake and invalid in order to keep Ashland satisfied for the time being until Victoria knows for sure that her… Read more »

THAT was incredible. There are no interested parties in Chatville for this story but now Abby & Chance have to go knock on the Hamilton door to plead to get their kid back a few hours early! Devon was ultimately gracious but the look of intrusion on his face! He let them know! And while Devon is bawking at the idea Amanda has got the geers turning as to how to get the boyfriend full custody! Where are we going and what is the ultimate outcome of all this? Will Amanda and possible sperm donor Devon get full parentage custody… Read more »

Yes that may happen. Devon has been intrusive the whole time this is going on. I think Abby and Chance should be fighting his demands more.

What is the end game here with Devon and Amanda? Devon is constantly barging in and asking to take Dom to his house— but Abby & Chance do it once to Devon and it’s a problem? And Amanda actually asked if Devon wants FULL CUSTODY? Based on what? Because Chance is seeking appropriate help for his PTSD? Should all parents in therapy have to give up custody of their children too? RIDICULOUS! I’m not sure if Amanda was just checking on Devon’s thinking or trying to lead him in the direction of full custody. Is the show trying to shame… Read more »

I don’t think the show’s trying to shame anyone. I think Chance’s absence/PTSD/struggles all have been- and are – designed to give Devon what he thinks is justification for current/further custody… and then one day therapy will empower a healed Chance to pull Dom back when “Devon’s not the father” is revealed. Imho Devon hasn’t had a good look about him for some time now, but I do believe Devon believes he has been doing the right thing. (Lol… my real self believes in a non-real person’s beliefs… lol, I love this show – gotta believe in something, right?!)

I don’t see any justification to demand parental rights when you legally agreed to be a sperm donor. And to continually say that a parent who is struggling with emotional issues is an unfit parent is just absurd. People struggle. No one is abusing or neglecting Dominic. The show is certainly not sending positive messages about infertility, surrogacy, or parenting through difficult times. Your friends should be there supporting you—not plotting to get full custody of your baby. Devon is the worst. Have your own baby Mr. Billionaire. You are Dom’s godfather. That’s where it should have ended.

I 100% agree that Devon’s justifications are unwarranted and absurd. I 100% DON’T feel the show is sending a message of what it deems right or wrong. YnR’s purpose is entertainment! (and who would actually take a life lesson from a soap opera, lol?) It’s just a story… and I don’t see plots/characters as ‘representative’ of anything. But I suppose it could school viewers in what NOT to do? Lol, which viewers – esp. our wise Chat bunch – already know, of course!

Sorry sueW, but sadly what Y&R is doing with this baby storyline has never been entertaining. More people that not actually believe what is on their television screens and sadly take their cues of life from it.

Oh for sure, I think and hope I understand your take on ‘entertaining.’ My ‘entertaining’ reference categorizes soap writing under the 3 general umbrella purposes of writing: to inform, to persuade, or to entertain. ‘Entertain’ in this sense is to tell a true or imagined story w/true or imagined characters built around a theme that touches emotion – not necessarily happy or positive, but engaging on a reactionary level… not to ‘inform’ w/neutral facts, nor ‘persuade’ to spur thought or action. I simply don’t believe modern-day viewers consider soaps to reflect common reality. But for those that may, I do… Read more »

Yes I agree, where is Victor and the Abbotts in this. They have no opinion about Devon taking over? Doesn’t make sense .Where is Nina? She hasn’t been back since Chance came home, she was there for Mariah’s kidnapping but not now for her son who is struggling. Nina wouldn’t do that. And Devon is getting very unlikeable

If I was Lauren, I would demand that Victor fly her and Victor’s security team to Peru to see what is happening with her husband. Victor is a billionaire. If your husband isn’t answering his phone after all of this time, something must be very wrong.

Does Jack ever wear anything other than a suit and tie? He is always dressed as if he is going to the office. He went to his son’s house that is full of paint cans and plastic wrap everywhere as it is being cleaned out. Jack was there looking as dapper as ever. He really needs to invest in some casual comfy clothes.

You’re so right! Kinda hard to envision him in a Tshirt and jeans, lol. It would be fun to see him dressed down and feeling all awkward – the same way some guys are always pulling at their collar when not used to wearing a shirt and tie. Of course, that’d give more fodder for Phyllis to keep making her faces, lol. (I have a vague recollection that Jack ONCE took a run in Chancellor Park in running gear. Once. In his entire life. Then back to the stuffy Jackie-boy suits.)

I think there was an episode with Dina where gasp…Jack was wearing a zip up pullover sweater during the holidays. But actually I do know someone who always wears dress clothes when going out. Whether to someone’s house for a casual get together or to the airport. And he’s retired & wasn’t a corporate executive. Recently he had to wear casual clothes because he was coming home from the hospital. It shocked his relatives to see him underdressed & they had a good laugh about it. I guess some ppl have a thing for dressing up. Not me though but… Read more »

Ali I thought all of the same things as you last week in your commentary. I am glad I wasn’t the only one. I thought Imani was treated disrespectfully Amanda at the meeting and I also thought she should have been invited to the meeting in the first place. She is supposed to be an equal partner. I also thought it was odd and inappropriate how Phyllis acted towards Tracey when Jack invited her to go with him to L.A. I was also not understanding why Phyllis was making faces when Jack was talking about Keemo as he looked at… Read more »

Chance telling Abby if he opens up during therapy, he’s afraid the dam will break and all his emotions will come out. This helps me to understand how scared and reluctant he is. He’s been on many risky missions and probably has lots of baggage to unpack.

Why don’t Rey and Sharon take a beat from Noah. They can do all the activities at once. They could read books about pool in a dive bar, then bowl in the dive bar with bowling pins in the shape of ducks. Now that’s something they haven’t done recently.

Why didn’t Rey go with Sharon to see Christian? So weird. It isn’t like the little fella’s school project is top secret or emotionally sensitive. Act like part of the family Rey, and maybe you will actually feel that way. Instead you are hanging out with the woman who poisoned you. Again, very weird! But, Chelsea is a wonderful person and Adam is Satan. Okey dokey.

Seriously, that made no sense. Christian was only asking her five questions. So, Rey and Sharon were going home. Does Nick not live on the Newman grounds as well?
But basically that bad plot pointing, to have Rey and Chelsea talk. Too obvious.

It was strange Rey didn’t go. Sharon didn’t even ask him. Also, why was Christian asking Sharon 5 questions going to take the whole afternoon?

Yeah, really, Ellen. Still bitter about Adam but the bigger point here is no coming down on Rey but he needs to assert himself more into Sharon’s family since everyone likes him and maybe then he will feel more like he belongs. Don’t segregate yourself. I would probably be doing the same thing Rey is so I know this is no path to follow! Let me make all the mistakes Rey, you are the one that counts. Its so weird how Sharon & Rey did want to go off together but they allow the simpliest little thing to seperate them.… Read more »

We can see they are pushing Rey and Chelsea together. It’s just so awkward. Rey and Sharon could choose to prioritize each other. And Rey could choose to have common sense about THE WOMAN WHO POISONED HIM. But I’m going to have to watch this Rey & Chelsea thing happen—it seems inevitable, right?

I missed the bigger, more obvious point Dianna makes that was it going to take all day for Chris to ask 5 basic questions? Surely that boy has bigger fish to fry than have Sharon dragging him down all day. Rey could wait in the car on the way to bowling if he is too bashful to go inside for 5 minuutes for 5 questions. Y&R must think I am a blithering idiot to not grasp this timetable. And thanks for pointing up what I already knew, Dianna.
