Imagine spilling all your personal dirt to the woman, Imani
“The Grand Phoenix Ballroom” is for losers!
Y&R inspired Mariah & Tessa are more a love story than they are a political statement. If the soap must please advertizers then M&T, in their genuineness, are going to offend a fewer segment of people who do approve of homosexuality than if they were more radicalized. I would think this simple statement is the foundation of how Mariah & Tessa have been created and move along on the soap. You would think in 20222 this would be less of a problem and I believe it is, but you only have to look to the larger political world to see… Read more »
I mean Do NOT approve. The endless errors….
To each their own, as they say… unless someone else doesn’t like it, lol.
Check out Esther, sitting like a sex bomb, Gina Lollobrigida in Chancellor Park waiting for Mr. right or wrong!
In a follow-up scene it is learned Esther & date both have different connections to Counter Screens cleaning products which makes this a potencial 5 star match up! Althoug that’s kind of a curious name for what is basically an Ajax assortment.
“WE DO THE WORK SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO!”
These two remind me of the movie, A Fine Romance.
THE OLD PEOPLE’S LAMENT: “Mrs. C’s motto was, ‘I’m going to live until I die”, not I’m going to text until I die.”
Ali, A slight correction. Crystal was never in jail. Remember Tessa took her across the border to Canada. She was a fugitive from the law for shooting Zach Stennett. Which NEVER made sense to me, because he was going to kill Abby and Scott, but Crystal stopped him. Even though she shot him in the back. I don’t think in reality she would have been charged with murder. At the very least self defense of others. But this was just a mechanism used to have Tessa leave GC for awhile. And this lead her to needing the $20 thousand dollars… Read more »
You have such a great memory for detail. I have forgotten most all of that- BUT- the $20,000 – was that what Tessa had sewn away into a giant stuffed bear or something? That rings a bell to me…
No, the amount that Tessa sewn into the bear was $230,000. That was the amount left over from the $250, 000 of the blackmail money, once she paid $20,000, the people that helped her get Crystal to Canada.
Wow, Ali, Congrats on 14 years of Y&R Chat!! I’ve loved the show even more since discovering your Chats and site. Having the interactive opportunities to comment, vote in polls/quotes, and laugh at the perfect screen caps keeps viewers engaged and coming back. Other ‘reviews’ I’ve heard or seen tend to be constant criticisms, but your enthusiasm and love for the show (even through the occasional ‘clunker’ plots/characters) is infectious, and has created a shared sense of enjoyment in your ‘inner Chat circle.’ So thank you again for your commentaries, humor, and time devoted to taking everyone on this ride… Read more »
I concur with all this. Congratulations and Thank You, Ali. You are the best.
Thank you Ali for confirming that that wasn’t a 70s wedding in particular but a more generalized RETRO FUNK event.
I didn’t realize it was Kate Linder’s 40 year anniversary on the show last week. I was happy to see her as we haven’t seen Ester in a very long time and was shocked and delightfully surprised to see Ester’s flashback scene where she and Mrs. C were talking about Tiny! I know I have mentioned him on here before and that his name was briefly mentioned by Lauren’s son Scott as he read an article online about him aloud to Phyllis. Scott mentions that he was Chloe’s father and a plumber. My Y&R prediction for 2021 was that Tiny… Read more »
Congratulations Ali on the 14 year Y&R Chat Anniversary! Your hard work is very much appreciated. This website and your chat makes the show a lot more interesting and fun to watch. It is a great platform to express and share thoughts, feelings and historical memories and facts of the show. It is “joyful” to listen and watch Y&R chat each week.
I enjoyed the wedding so much. I’m curious to watch where the show takes Teriah now. Most gay couples have gay friends—where is Tessa & Mariah’s community? Oh well, I suppose friendship is not much of a focus for anyone on YR. I did want to thank you for your full support of this couple and their joyful wedding. I’m sure you had to weed out negative comments about Teriah from your site. Being LQBT+ is not a choice—it’s who a person is. If anyone thinks otherwise, they must also think a straight person can wake up tomorrow and suddenly… Read more »
“Part of the human family from the beginning”. This a lovely statement and a wonderful comment brought to the table with respect and love. What more could I ask for from my Y&R friends? You’re right that I fielded a lot of non-positive comments last week about the Mariah and Tessa wedding, and it weighs on me. I don’t want to dismiss or exclude opinions that I disagree with. I want thoughtful Y&R fans to feel they have a place to be heard. It’s a challenging balance. One clarification I have to make: I was not intending to use the… Read more »
I could not have said it better, myself regarding the LGBTQIA Community. Especially one’s thoughts about them. And the fact they have been around since the beginning of time. As far as to where Teriah is headed. Most likely back in the closet so to speak. The Wedding was all about the ratings and securing those “pink” advertising dollars. This is why the show brought back Kyle and Summer and plan to highlight Noah and Allie. So that Tessa and Mariah are no longer the young couple of interest in town and they can be back burner again.
Congratulations on 14 years of YR Chat Ali! We are so lucky that you decided to do that first video and then stick with it and build your YR world “from the ground up”! It truly is remarkable that you produce all this content and manage a great website week after week, year after year. We appreciate all the time you put in very much.
Forgot to say—I do enjoy that you often choose your Chat outfit as an homage to something that happened on YR during the week. Your 70s glam top this week was—well, glamorous. I don’t know how you look so beautiful every Sunday morning—perfect hair & makeup—flawless skin. It’s a magic trick, right?
I believe Ali’s moon clothes hidden homage was not to M&T’s no 70s wedding but in fact in tribute to Kate McKinnon launched into outer space in a rocket ship as he final farewell to SNL on Saturday night.
everyone is intitled to their own beliefs
Maybe! Love that 🙂
Thank you! I have to confess, the ‘space shirt’ is from the 90’s. I do have a full polyester suit from the 70’s. It’s top-to-bottom black and green CHECKERS print. I wanted to wear it so badly, but it would have been way too hot. The TRUE fabric of the 70’s is polyester. Sweaty, unbreathable, unbearable polyester.
Some would pay to see you in this Brady outfit. But you speak the truth about polyester. I have someone who gives me polyester shirts that I would never wear them for the reasons you describe. When the new miriacle no iron fabric came out didn’t consumers raised on 100% cotton immediately recognize that they were no good?
Couple more wedding things, I agree about Mariah’s attitude to Summer was icky, and liked Tessa’s reaction, very much like a wife.
Hello comfy couches lol. I watched the wedding ep while working, and today’s chat made me rewatch, and I am so glad I did. I loved the brides headbands and entire looks as well. Did anybody else notice the extra working as cocktail waitress, dare I say in a green dress, who seemed to try to catch attention? I love that Kyle does twirls when he dances. The Chloe comment about same sex marriage was the perfect amount and manner to not feel like an agenda is not being pushed, just natural every day life. I missed all three love… Read more »
I completely agree w/you re: Chloe’s comment – it seemed organically part of a genuine conversation, and it would have seemed a deliberate void had not anyone observed something of the like. For me, the wedding was a joyous occasion to celebrate regardless of who was being married… and also for me, unless specifically seeking to be informed, ‘agendas’ are the main thing to turn me off and away from a TV show, movie, podcast, etc. (and most of the social media platforms serving that very purpose). Anyway, enough of my agenda. I’m no tech whiz, but am quite satisfied… Read more »
The word ‘agenda’ is loaded. I wish I would have chosen differently. But, I do think it’s fair to highlight the fact that Y&R is not an altruistic entity. Their goal is not to change the viewing mind. Their goal is to create an entertainment show that will draw viewership for their advertisers. The content of the show is certainly influenced by what products and services need to be sold. Because of this, we only ever dip our toes into the pool of controversial topics, always careful to not negatively affect the ratings. We know this. We accept this. Chloe’s… Read more »
Soooo true re: sponsorship/viewership. On a general note, it will be interesting to see how the television biz continues moving forward. With both the FF features and ‘commercial-free’ streaming/app options, I often wonder if broadcast slots can remain lucrative or even sustainable for advertising. I haven’t watched commercials in years, lol.
You’re right! Maybe the future of advertising is that the customer pays to NOT see it. With Paramount Plus, I only have to NOT WATCH one 30 second commercial, instead of not watching 15 minutes of commercials…
