I am so disappointed. I had found a video of Phyllis in a truck listening to country music. She accelerates and runs over Diane’s leg. It was so good as we don’t see many outdoor scenes. We also learned that Phyllis likes country music. I wish I had posted it right away, as I found it a while ago. It has been deleted. I hope Y&R does a montage of all of Phyllis’s altercations with Diane. It would be appropriate to give viewers a better understanding of the history between Diane and Phyllis. This is important to highlight as Diane… Read more »

I forgot to mention I believe it was accidental on Phyllis’s part.

Every time Diane comes back to town, Phyllis has an altercation with her. It’s not real life, so bring on the drama.

Soap slaps have been around for many years. They are classic to soap operas and add some good light drama. Watching some old clips of the history between Diane and Phyllis I notice Phyllis doesn’t slap, she punches Diane on more than one occasion! Phyllis doesn’t fool around when it comes to her hatred and tolerance of Diane. Phyllis should consider herself lucky that Diane never charged her with assault. Phyllis can’t seem to control herself when it comes to Diane. See for yourself.

I prefer the water dump (can’t be faked). The reaction would be amazing if it was real ice & ice water. I also enjoy a catfight. For some reason ladies fighting is comical but men fighting is mean. But of course in real life it’s wrong. A drink in the face is the least harmful.

You make a great point. Devon fought Nate and it didn’t end well.

Like any other soap fan, slap scenes are always fun. But I voted no because in 2022 psychological warfare goes much farther than slapping – like what we saw with Phyllis and Diane this week or what I think we’re going to see more of with Imani and Elena. And after the whole Will Smith “Oscars” incident, it feels a bit off and tone deaf now.

Kamna, you make a grrrrreat point re: the Oscars’ ‘slap incident.’ Soaps are clearly suspended in an odd time warp all their own, blissfully unaware of and/or mostly ignoring the real world (one whopping case in point – the pandemic). For me, watching YnR gives a welcome respite from divisions, politics, headlines, tragedies, etc. that would otherwise color the juicy little snipings, machinations, and plots amidst the fabulous unreality that is GC. I respect and understand why some find those very voids ignorant and offensive. Yet, when wearing my soap-fan hat, I turn a blind eye and find the often… Read more »

There has to be a montage video of all the Y&R slaps throughout its entire run.

Soap slaps? Sure! Impossibly 24/7 camera-ready, gorgeous, and over-dressed characters doing and saying things no one would dare do or say in real life? Sure! Pretentious wheelings/dealings/careers/dialogues of woefully inept, fast-tracked wünderkinds? Sure! Full-of-plot-hole stories that make no sense? Sure! Soaps are inherently melodramatic and more than a bit campy. So- slaps? Heck yeah, along w/all the other ludicrous harpings, tussles, confrontations, and going-ons that define a soap. Not to diminish the great drama and emotional wallop a soap can, should, and absolutely does deliver – but it’s hard to lose sight of the silly bubble it’s all framed in.… Read more »

Well it depends on who is doing the slapping. I wouldn’t say we get a lot of slaps. They are used sparingly. The whole thing in the slapping is such physicality true to the character doing it? Nikki and Diane are the catalysts for this question and I would say it is true to both their natures so it works. How many times has the alley cat Nikki gone after Sharon? I arrest my case.(Case) As the great lady of the manor (and town) Nikki will hold back in favor of using just her sharp snobby tongue, but push her… Read more »

I missed something. Why all the talk about “who killed Ashland?” Is Robert Newman and the character Ashland leaving Y&R?

On a tip off from Jack Abbott, liked that in the end Diane had the good judgement to realize a confidencial hook-up with pariah Ashland Locke would not be of help to her.

I voted yes. But the slaps are my least favourite of altercations and I would rather see a full out catfight. But my true preference is the pouring of milk over ones head, as Sharon did to Nikki or when Lily pushed Amanda into the rooftop pool! I love some creativity when it comes to amping up the classic soap slap.

Keep your hands to yourself. We learn that in kindergarten. It’s a big NO from me. No one wins anything in these stupid exchanges.

This wasn’t even a fight. It was just two shoves. I want a fight like they used to do.
