I like her a lot. I almost wish she had a new nickname because this Summer is a completely different character than the previous one. And kudos! to this actress for not attempting any copy-cat of Hunter K., but finding her own way instead. In my opinion, the character needed a re-vamp. Summer’s poutng and flouncing was getting tiresome, and I often found her simultaneous little girl/sex kitten persona kind of icky. It was also hard to buy the previous Summer as an international fashion whiz (Idk what the actual job even was), but NewSummer seems to make better sense… Read more »

I’m not able to say I like her or I don’t like her. She’s fine. For me, the character of Summer is incidental to the show and gets in the way with her take on whatever. Summer doesn’t make a big impression on me. The new more mature Summer is being panned as less eroticized than Hunter King so Y&R is bringing out the big guns with a tiny zip up the front skirt to up her sex appeal. Summer will never be able to hold a candle to Kyle’s true non love Lola Rosales.

Well, I like this new Summer, she seems more mature and level headed. The actress seems grounded to me too. Even though I truly love Hunter King. And since it seems that the show is putting Chelsea in Kyle’s orbit. I want Tessa in Summer’s. Get Tessa away from Mariah. Married or not. I have not forgiven Mariah for cheating on Tessa, not accepting Tessa’s first proposal, carrying another woman’s baby and then trying to basically emotionally blackmail Tessa into having a baby for her. Also if Summer is not with Kyle, I don’t believe there are any other man… Read more »

I voted I like her – and not usually a fan of recasts of long-running characters, that’s good. She seems suited to the career, and being Kyle’s equal. Not so much with her parents yet, but she hasn’t had a lot of scenes together with Phyllis or Nick. Those three seemed like a real family.

My negative reactions to recasts are because they make it seem like I am watching a different show. Have you ever watched a soap you don’t usually watch. They all seem like actors.

Toni, that is such a fantastic observation simply put in a brief sentence. We watch Y&R and think the actors are fantastic as we are familiar with their character progression and varring moods. Tune into a show not watched or see a commercial for it and the performers seem like surface actors or models. So very artifical or hollow. If we invested in those shows we would see how very good they are too. Whenever a soap is highlighted with over the top clips like at the Daytime Emmys if you don’t know the performer they are going to be… Read more »

I voted I like her because I don’t dislike her but she has to grow on me. Her acting is fine, but I just don’t see any chemistry between her and Kyle or with Phyllis, we haven’t seen much of her and Nick. I never cared about Kyle’s and Summer’s romance before Michael came on as Kyle, but Hunter and Michael had such great chemistry that I came on board with the Summer and Kyle romance. Now, I’m back to not caring if they stay together or not. I just think she needs more time to really make the character… Read more »

I like the “Summer Recast.” She really seems to have captured the “essence of Summer” minus the spoiled brat persona that Hunter King just seemed to be a natural in that regard. Both, in my opinion as a red blooded American Boy,are very attractive but I think Hunter King was more sexy……heck I’ii say it. The old Summer/Hunter King was HOT!

That “spoiled persona” is part of who Summer is though, we don’t want to complete lose it, just maybe not with a recast straight away.

Unpopular opinion: I like new Summer more than Hunter King’s portrayal. Hunter as Summer often came across as spoiled, entitled and whiny to me. I find the new Summer to be more sophisticated and more believable as someone who works in the corporate world. I will be thrilled if they write her as someone who stands up to Phyllis and Victor by forming her own opinions about things like, hmmmmmm—Diane and Ashland. This overbearing parent/grandparent nonsense needs to STOP. It will be totally hypocritical if they allow Diane into Harrison’s life but block Ashland’s access. Ashland is Harrison’s legal father… Read more »
