Lol, Amelia Bedelia is Esther’s forever alter-ego to me- ever since catching that possibility so perfectly imagined by a fellow Chatter. The fictional A.B., in her very sincere intent, would go pour actual dust on a bird! Ali, you and your daughter will enjoy the A.B. books; I suspect she will be introduced to the loopy but earnest maid very soon! That series is used regularly around here in our schools, libraries, and kid programs (1st, 2nd, 3rd grade-ish) to introduce and celebrate examples of the silly – yet confusing – idioms so common in the English language.
