Ali’s quick summary, courtesy of Wikipedia (and vague memories):
Dr. Scott Grainger first came onto the Genoa City scene in 1988 as Christine’s mother’s physician. In true soapy form, Cricket fell in love with him… only to find out he was her brother!
Scott moved onto our lovely Lauren and was involved in a triangle with her and Nurse Sheila Carter. Both Lauren and Sheila became pregnant. Sheila’s baby was stillborn, but she desperately wanted Scott’s child. So, she STOLE Lauren’s baby, and named him Scott Jr., who we were re-introduced to this week. But wait! Lauren didn’t even know about the baby switch because… duh duh duh… Sheila replaced Scott Jr. with a black market baby!!! Eventually, Sheila went even more nuts, held Lauren hostage, and confessed the truth. “Scotty” was returned to Lauren, but she never escaped the torment of the situation.
As for Scott Sr.? Well, he was diagnosed with a terminal illness and died in 1993.
There is one thing that is not mentioned in Ali’s summary of that story line. I had to look it up because I had forgotten myself. After watching the Tuesday episode, I can see how a Phyllis/Scott match would create drama. First, Lauren even though she is Phyllis’ friend, would probably have major concerns in light of Phyllis’ history in the romance department. Then if Cricket is still around, she has her own history with Phyllis. Since the new writers are not fans of Phyllis/Billy and would like for viewers to forget about that match, this match would be the closest one to take some viewers’ mind off of Philly.
I had not been watching for long when this storyline came around and it made me want to get even more into the whole show! I remember Lauren feeling very early on after giving birth that something was wrong for she had noticed that a birth mark was missing from her “baby’s” tummy. I also remember Sheila playing the psychic lover very well. I would freak out when she was on. Patty is an “out-of-this world” psychic but Sheila was crazy in that she knew what she was doing and no hurdle would stop her achieving her goal: she wore… Read more »
Interesting. I wonder if Cricket will ever be a part of his return since she would be his aunt. So Paul would be his uncle. I never thought of this connection before.
