I am disappointed that Kevin is being let go from the show. However, if I was more smitten with some of the new characters it would be easier for me to understand this decision but I would rather see Kevin stay over more screen time set aside for Tessa, Ravi, Juliet, Scott, Kendall, Jordan or Zoe.
The character of Kevin has been back burner ever since he was reformed. So while I like seeing him. I can see how they aren’t renewing his contract because his basically a minor supporting character. Y&R could have done so much more with him but I think because he doesn’t fit into the typical male lead look or personality. They didn’t even bother. Without Chloe and with Mariah being paired with Devon there was really no story for him. Being Bella’s dad is not enough.
this is the most interesting thing Cain has ever done. Ever. I’m in!
You are so right, Robbie! Well done, Cain. I don’t have to sleep during your scenes anymore!
Cane has certainly lit a fire in the storyline, instead of us having to suffer through the tedious prospect of watching Victoria perform her mating dance in an attempt to lure Billy.
The idea of using Jason Thompson to perform the role of a lovey-dovey , homespun father figure constantly whispering sweet nothings into Victoria’s ear is a waste of Mr. Thompson’s acting chops. He is far better suited to portraying an adversarial character; someone who is always rubbing people the wrong way in my opinion.
Ali, because you like to comment on the Y&R fashions, just a quick note. The LA looks have been so great. Specifically, Lily’s navy and floral dress today is really beautiful! Lily’s never my favorite character, but she definitely gets this week’s best dressed award.
Did anyone else catch the line said by Juliet that went along the lines of “I’m always attracted to unavailable men” (when Lily came to tell her the hockey player has a girlfriend)? Is that a clue to the viewers that Juliet may have set Cane up in Japan? Is this is me shaking my head at Cane. I understand feeling frustrated if you feel Billy is always getting all the praise, but Billy is not the one to blame. He is not doing anything spiteful to Cane and it’s Victoria you approach stating that he feels her praise is… Read more »
Darn it! I was really hoping Jack and Gloria would have made a love connection that evening. I suspect the specter of Dina haunted Jack’s conscious-considering the fact that Gloria was once his mother. The presence of his biological mother shook him to the very foundation of his soul bestirring his moral compass enough to question the nature of his relationship with Gloria. That is very unfortunate because I find Jack and Gloria to be a whimsical if unorthodox couple.
I think Gina Tognini as Phyllis has some real gifts as a comic – especially for physical comedy. Every once in a while she cracks me up, as she did when she grabbed the map when Juliet walked by. By the way, wasn’t the desk clerk in another episode that aired sometime in the past couple of years? What a job by cast and crew on the outdoor scenes in LA! The wind must have been a real challenge for everyone from hair and costume people to the sound and lights folks. I wondered if the “Beverly Palm Hotel” was… Read more »
I am devastated about Kevin leaving the show. From the moment he came on the show, I felt a strong connection with him. We’ve seen him through his ups and downs. I feel like he’s part of a major family on the show, he’s woven through several of the storylines and characters, I feel like he’s a surrogate son for Michael and even Paul (as of late). I just think that Y&R should have worked harder to keep him on the show. But understand that the advances that the show has made lately definitely come at a cost. It’s just… Read more »
Hi Ali, I was one of the folks in the minority in your poll about Greg Rikaart leaving the show.
You asked for some insight into what we were thinking. For my part, I’ve got nothing against the actor or the character. I just don’t feel he’s a central figure that I’d miss once he’s gone. I know he’s been on Y&R for a while, but he just strikes me as one of the many characters who pass through.
It would have been funny to see Avery in a cameo giving instructions on a video or to Phyllis by skype. Or she could turn on TV and see that her sister had landed a new job as television chef.
I am curious as to see who Hilary will love again? Jack mentioned last week to Hilary, she will love again. I am curious as to who. Love your podcast on Y &R.
