Watching the Daytime Emmy Award show, I was reminded that we celebrate the characters as much as the talented actresses that bring them to life. Congratulations to Courtney(Sally), Michelle(Phyllis), and Melody(Nikki). MTS and her husband sharing the lifetime achievement award was unique as well. Y&R was well represented and made me a proud fan.
This week been so interesting and intense, I really enjoyed it mostly because Ashley it’s my favourite abbot so her story this week was so interesting and intense. This whole week I keep saying poor Ashley because it’s awful how Martin just manipulated her , he was so creepy in the flashbacks and when he try to kidnap her . I don’t think Martin it’s dead , no body , no death , he is alive, even though I am going to miss her personalities mostly because they were enjoyable to watch , I am glad she solved what was… Read more »
To truly bring the demise of Martin to a close we need to hear something about the morgue or funeral arrangements or something of that nature. As for me though, I am “all in” in accepting that Martin is dead. That storyline should be final. Friday’s show served as the grand finale.
A few “Chatters” feel that Martin is alive or that Alan is really Martin, etc. Gang….MARTIN IS DEAD!
A while back I had commented that Summer was probably jealous of Claire as she is growing closer to Kyle and to her son Harrison. This week we find out that this is true as Summer confides in Chance while they are talking at the park. This would be a natural emotion and is very realistic. It would also be feasible if Clare also felt the same way towards Summer. Summer is an attractive and successful woman who is living a life that Claire would want to have for herself. Y&R did good with the Ashley storyline b/c I’m still scared that Alan IS Martin! Someone needed to check the back of his head where he said Martin had hit him! (I’m probably wrong, but I’m just scared for Ashley.)
I’m with you! Traci is too trusting, Jack doesn’t have all the facts, and Tucker must protect our girl.
Martin is DEAD! No need to keep “beating the proverbial DEAD HORSE”. The key factor is the gray shirt vs. the gray sweater. Too obvious!

I thought that for a split second, but when did he have time to change the shirts? The gang ran outside instantly with Tucker lingering over the side before he ran downstairs with the ladies. Alan came in with what he was wearing after getting knocked over the head.
Alan mentioned childhood trauma and I got nervous. I’m hoping that they will not re-write John as some kind of sexual abuser. If they choose to go there with sexual abuse, I hope at least it will be one of Dina’s boyfriends that she brought around or something.

I guess the whole point of ashley and Alan story was to bring Alan in for Traci? Well, well, well, talk about taking the long and winding road! Is next big thing figuring her traumatic event? What could happen except she heard her mom and dad arguing that John Abbott is not her dad. Please no child abuse.
John Abbott is not her dad. Ashley already knows this. This is why Jack put the blood Abbott clause to keep Ashley from running Jabot and they had a big family feud.
Not Petula Clark (nobody can be), but Amanda Kloots opens up the Daytime Emmys singing DOWNTOWN! WOW. My favorite! Devon bombs out when I would have wanted him to win because just a couple days ago I thought he was really good in his scene with Aunt Mamie where he asked her to drop out and turn in her Chancellor Winters stock.
Sally Spectra wins!!! (Not looking much like herself in sexed up GWTW prom dress) beating out that whiney Summer girl! Great! Who’s head of Marchetti, Jabot now?
After thrilling clip of Nikki pushing Aunt Joren into a brick wall, Y&R is NOT awarded best writing team.
I am hopped up and excited to see beautiful Melody & Ed win. Now I have to try and go to sleep. So personally thrilling. Melody is certainly somebody special.
At the beginning of the tribute, it opened on one of the most incredible photos I have ever seen. A vibrant colorazation of Melody as a little girl in a red & white dress. Completely startling. Who saw this?
Beautiful, sophisticated Diane Jenkins seen with hubby Cameron Kirsten. You have to look quick.
I just love Traci and I now need Alan to be the true sweet guy he seems to be and to fall in love with Traci.
Well, I watched the whole thing and was royally entertained, but a crazy wild ride out of nowhere. Alan is groomed as our new leading man. I’m actually kind of stunned by the fast moving turn of events. Interesting the boys in grey went over the balcony with a resolution to that in the first 10 minutes of the show instead of at the end. The whole thing is plain odd, start to finish. And in the end we see Alan is WILDLY in love with Traci! (although she would make the first move)

It definitely feels like this story was made up recently and not what was initially planned. It doesn’t feel like a story that had a long thought out plot. At the same time,, it may have been the direction that was planned from the beginning as Ashley goes to visit a mystery person in Paris. This occurred months ago. I had made comment that I had hoped that the mystery person was going to be Theo. I guess I like that this story was unpredictable as no one would have been this coming. Yes. It seems like it was made up as it went along but then they were able to tie it in to the earlier happenings which they would feel they needed to do. But who knows for sure?
First, Tucker is useless in a street fight; yet, he has value as a shrewd judge of character and he needs to check on Alan and the clinic before Ashley goes there. I’m not convinced that Alan is not really Martin. That police investigation was too quick for my Sherlock inquiring mind. I’m not buying the evil twin is dead.
That would be a good twist!
What role did Tucker play in this episode? He was right to be suspicious, of course, but his being with Traci didn’t advance the plot at all. He didn’t play the hero and rescue Ashley. He didn’t intervene in the fight between Alan and Martin. He was just a bystander the whole episode.
What was the point? What am I missing?
Martin, the evil twin, is DEAD! There is no need to squeeze any more out of that storyline.
Brent, I think you and I are in agreement. Tucker was not there to intervene in the fight. He was there because he was suspicious about Alan/Martin and trying to protect Ashley. His suspicions could be unfounded or a link to a plot twist. Henry, you might be right in your thinking, but the soap world has all kinds of twists and turns surrounding good vs. bad twins and my thinking is open to this possibility. Time will tell and we will stay tuned….Same Y&R time, same Y&R channel.
Well, I’m sure that all “Chatters” can breathe a sigh of relief now that the Ashley storyline has been HOPEFULLY resolved. I can’t foresee anything else coming out of that storyline except maybe a budding romance with Traci and Alan thus keeping him as part of the cast. Just a thought. I could be off base on that scenario, however. Alan appears to be anchored in Paris and will still be involved in Ashley’s continued therapy. Question for you all – Am I the only one who is completely bored with the idea of Kyle and Claire (already)? There’s no chemistry – neither a passionate one or a sweet vibe (like Allie and Noah). Perhaps this is also because they are making Claire a bit one-dimensional right now, and I don’t find her very believable. We’re not seeing any internal struggle, and she’s so goody goody with her family, even using the words mom, dad, grandpa…as if she’s done this all her life. I hope there’s a twist in store somewhere!
You are not alone. I don’t see Claire as a romantic interest for anyone. Too goody goody as you say.
Claire gets younger every episode. She is acting more of a weekend baby-sitter than a nanny, who is often a type of educator. She should be way older than Reed (maybe 10 years?), who has been in college for several years, so she would be near 30, not bouncing around as a playmate to Harrison.
Your comments stir my thoughts but in a different way. I have always thought that “Clairison” and her mom, Victoria, appear to be about the same age! Victoria just doesn’t give me the “mother vibe”. She looks like she could be “Clairison’s sister”.

Claire/the family needs to understand that the nanny job is to be stern and not make Harrison’s life a cotton candy amusement park fantasy everyday. Her firrst day at work shocked me. Exzausting. What will they do tomorrow? ”

I believe Y&R will hear the voice of the people and quickly tone Claire down a bit. Nip that enthusium for life in the bud!
Let me “weigh in” on your comments about Kyle and “Clairison”. Remember the romantic episodes with Kyle and Lola (now the new Supergirl)? Kyle was her first sexual encounter. Yes, he was her “first”. That will I assume be the case with “Clairison” and that will be the twist you are anticipating. Kyle will as the old saying goes, “turn her into a REAL WOMAN.
Idk. I usually groan at this type of character, yet this actress pulls me in to make Claire feel genuine to me… all in accepting the silly story premise, of course. The age issue is Chatters mention is a bit wonky, but pretty ‘par for the (unrealistic aging) course’ of most soap characters, lol.

I love Claire. I’m rooting for her. And I like Kyle with Claire. And I like that Summer doesn’t like Kyle and Claire together.

I will only say I was surprised when she started using warm & fuzzy terms like mom, dad, & GRANDPA(!). Exactly, Kamna_in_CA. “as if she’s done this all her life” Awkward “Grampa”, wow.
Well, when one is raised by Aunt Jordan, propriety most likely lacks, while awkwardness (a nice word for jumbling mixed signals) most likely abounds. I happily buy sweet, reformed Claire, but would be equally happy (and not surprised) s/she ultimately wind up w/a residual loose screw (or many) surfacing… and not in a good way.
I agree about Claire and Kyle. I said months ago that I wouldn’t mind if her character was off the show. Ali agreed. I can think of dozens of characters that I would rather see on the show than Claire. I am glad that I am not the only one who finds it unrealistic that she would be calling all the family members grandma, grandpa, mom and dad when they are still strangers to her. I mean, we all knew it was Martin from the moment Alan went to check on the noise, right? Ugh, how could the Abbott sisters be so naive? Good thing Tucker IS there to save the day!
Had Martin overtaken Alan when he appeared in the grey shirt or is there no sociopath twin with Alan & Martin one? Canadian Henry will know. If A & M are the same person why wasn’t Tucker recognized on the street? Confusing The Abbott girls may very well never trust another man again.
My ideal story would be that there is only one guy: Alan w/DID ‘alters.’ I’m so confused already, so why not? The more people w/’alters,’ the better! (Or at least soapier, lol..) Any writing can be ‘alter’ed to make it work!
sueW, I agree 100%! I was so confused on Thursday’s show; because it seemed like Martin and Alan are one person!! I would love Alan to have “DID alters” just as you said! Great storyline! But with the exceptional writing by Y&R recently; I will accept either way they take this story/whether Alan has multiple personalities or whether Alan has a twin. I’ll be happy as long as they keep this story going longer!
I am always positive but I find the whole story weird & bizarre? Ashley spintered because Alan/Martin got fresh with her? SOD used to have the feature of Best, Worst Stories Of The Year. Where does this fall on the spectrum?

Yes. Friday’s episode comes to a tragic end. Martin & Alan fall over a balcony as they fight. Alan survives as he falls on top of Martin. Martin dies. Tucker was present and deserves credit for coming to Ashley’s rescue. The fight scene between the twins was well done in my opinion. Just an observation…I think there may be a blossoming romance between Traci and Alan. Ashley has agreed to stay in France per Alan’s suggestion for further therapy. Friday’s show is great! 🙂
You mean crazy. I can’t get over this scoop! This sociopath is introduced on Tuesday and gone by Friday doing no real damage but trying to steal an agressive kiss from Ashley? Why, Why Why? I thought you were going to say Alan died but Martin lived. Never trust that Alan ism’t the one who’s dead while Martin lives.. Why, why, why is a perfect comment Gary! If this is all just to get Ashley back to Paris for extended stay (off the show) then just have her fight with somebody and leave in a huff like all the other times.

Well, the obvious key to identifying the twins would be the shirt and the sweater. Martin was wearing the shirt. When Alan returns, he is wearing the sweater. So, Martin is deceased. I’m puzzled as well regarding what Martin did to Ashley other than it appears he was attempting to force himself on her, etc. I guess the writers will just leave that to our imagination.
At one little point with the twins Martin had softer, more blow dried hair than Alan.
Henry said he is a farm boy from Iowa or somewhere similar in the U.S. I forget what state?
