PHYLLIS – We watched Gina Tognoni, and she was really good, although giving Phyllis a less edgy personality. A good recast. FAITH is a good recast. She has kept the personality, and eased the character into age. I will put the SUMMER recast with the Phyllis recast. A different personality, but acceptable for the character, “making it her own.” BiILLY? I liked Billy Miller, but this BILLY is a really good recast. Mark Grossman is great as part of the Newman family. He has the look, the swagger, and the black outfits. But I would rather have seen him as… Read more »
But because Paul no lionger fits into any real plot there is not a necessity to recast him and then, of course, not use him. Chatters had their say in identifying Chance Chancellor as 100% cop. I agree with my oney beef that they took him out to put him in big business and now he has to awkwardly jump back. OK. No sweat, but it would be nice if Chance at least had a little mini-set police station cubicle to act out of with a few glorified extras in uniforium to interact with or at least be seen…

OOPS-Ah-Daisy! Stop the presses! It appears that this week’s poll question has taken a major turn. Paul Williams has had a heart attack, and it appears he will not be attending any memorial services for his daughter, Heather! I had cast my vote prior to learning this. It appears that the poll question becomes a moot point now I would think. I looked ahead on the “Canadian Website” and found this out just minutes ago as this scenario is revealed on Tuesday’s episode! Only in “Soap Land” huh?

My vote was “Yes” to bring back Doug Davidson or a recast. I’m not sure what Davidson’s contract entailed. Maybe he can’t come back as Ali alluded to. Regarding a recast, that role would have to be somewhat long term, and I think it would work because Lucy will need some much-needed family support and who better than her grandfather as well as her dad and also let’s not forget “Grandma Phyllis”. From a fan’s perspective, I think that Davidson has been gone for so long that a new actor could easily be accepted as “The New Paul Williams”. I… Read more »

They can bring a new Paul back or not. The only thing i would say is that there has been a certain amount of drama for Paul over time since Doug Davidson left and Y&R has always managed to handle it with Paul off screen. Why change now? Paul not being in the flesh for a memorial for his daughter IS awkward, though. I’m old enough to remember when Heather was a baby in a bassenette in a run down apartment, living poor on the outskirts of town and even I am not compelled to attend her funeral.
(so I voted no because I felt I should contribute but really havre no definate yes or no response)

I voted yes but I wouldn’t like it, Doug Davidson is Paul, but he has been off the show for years now. Paul should be there for Heather’s funeral who ever plays him, but I hope they aren’t going to have Paul be in GC and not see him, that all his scenes will be off screen, that would be unfair to the character and everyone else.
This issue has been resolved with this poll now null & void.
Yes, Ali will have to do it officially.
