Ali, you may enjoy this clip of Christian Leblanc. I know you’ll like it. He brings up good points about taping a show and keeping a certain distance. No wonder Michael’s hair looks wacky all the time, they’re trying to make him be something he’s not. He’s totally grey, and would be a gorgeous silver fox. I wish they would let him be naturally grey, since he’s so handsome anyway. https://youtu.be/XC0fJ_IkyGo
Really interesting. I’ve never heard CJL talk so informatively with hair that looks so good. I was wondering if Y&R might address Corona, thinking no. Christian calls Y&R a fantasy and doesn’t think so either. Did everybody notice the big restaurant in the Victor clip? That’s certainly not Society and it isn’t the Authletic Club either, but had a certain scope. Where is that?
That new set is cool. Thanks for the link Sandra! I for one don’t want to see a coronavirus s/l. A mention sure but s/l no. We need escape from it somewhere! I do wonder how will will shoot in pandemic era. Its hard to intimidate someone when they are 2 metres a way! ; ) If the shutdown remains for quite a while maybe they can do flashbacks of a character or family each week. I want to see Neil, Dru & Malcolm. Cane & Lilly romance. Michael & Lauren. John Abbott. Glow by Jabbot campaign
I’d also like to see Traci, Colleen/JT (blue eyes was my fav Colleen). Dru/Phyllis. Devon going deaf & then recovering. Devon becoming a billionaire, Nikki/Sharon. Young Sharon & Nick.
Ali, your Victor is working out and fit, offering a most gracious invitation to you to tune into he and the wife next week for some very special episodes. He hopes you and others might enjoy them as much as he had making them!
Note: I called Victor and Nikki retro ho-hum as we have seen so much before, but have to admit a little preview reel of what’s ahead showed some very eye-catching snips I didn’t recognize.
Be there or be square.

JIll was hilarious at Katherine and Murphy’s wedding when she told Esther nobody wanted her there and called a simpering dimwit..lol! She is so comical
It was cold but I didn’t take Jill seriously as she had been drinking and not thinking clearly. Hopefully Esther understood that also and didn’t take it to heart. Jill lashed out because she was hurt. I took her words with a grain of salt.
I forgot that Neil was once CEO of Chancellor Industries. I am sure that if Neil were alive today he would be proud of Lily now that she is working for Chancellor Communications.

I’m limiting my YR right now. Its the Muslim holy month of Ramadan so I haven’t seen all the classic eps yet or some of Ali’s chats. Ramadan Mubarak if there are any Muslim chatters here. I love the fun stuff Y&R is posting on twitter. Here is the casts’ rendition of the them song https://twitter.com/MyJasonThompson/status/1256312705985605632 Nate has dreamy eyes & can beatbox! And Lauren wow thats a shocker
You can definitely notice that Y&R used to spend a lot more on the sets back in the day. It was nice to see the character’s bedrooms and not just the hallway. Even when we do see a character’s bedroom now, you often only see the bed and nothing else. I liked that we saw the characters at home and work more often and not mostly in coffee shops and hotels. Also the older story lines seemed to be more interesting. It appears the majority of fans feel this way as I was reading peoples comments on facebook. Better sets… Read more »
Because back in the day, the soap operas catered to housewives and they were in charge of the purse strings and advertisements was more about them and family. Unfortunately as time pass more women started working out side the home and there was less of a viewing audience and now of course we have that God awful reality television, which can be made more cheaply for TV Studios. Too Bad. Soaps were the best back during these classic episodes hey day.

In the episode of Katherine’s intervention, Katherine tells everyone welcome as they enter the room. EVeryone realizes Katherine has been drinking and is drunk. Jill then says ” What do we do now?” and Esther replies”It beats me, it wasn’t covered in my training classes”. We know what training Esther was referring to as I learned a couple of weeks ago that Esther is a trained alcohol abuse counselor and mentioned that fact on here after learning this information. I think that is a wonderful thing that Esther did in order to help Mrs. Chancellor. This shows us that Esther… Read more »
Yes it would be neat to see Esther use some of her training on the characters as many of them have problems with alcohol abuse. It would give Esther more depth.

Instead of viewing different past shows during this time, why don’t they go back and start at the very first episode? I think it would be some fun fun to see how this all started.
Here is a link to the very first episode of “The Young and the Restless”. The date-March 26, 1973. You should note the fact that there were no Newmans, Abbotts, Chancellors, Winters, Baldwins or Fishers anywhere in the program. Some of those families will not appear until a decade or more following the premiere of the show. What there are, instead, are two primary families known as the Brooks and the Fosters. Back then the premise of the show was based on a Romero and Juliet story involving Snapper Foster and Chris Brooks. She was from the upper crust of… Read more »
Snapper did need broad shoulders and even Jill had to bring in a household paycheck from Hazel’s Beauty Bar (shop) over college. Both Snapper and Greg had gotten an education, but Jill was a girl. She didn’t need one. HA!, Chatties!
Great point about Genoa Junction being a kind of Hooterville back when – doesn’t Brad Elliot arrive in town from the back of a pick-up truck in episode #1? A far cry from the New York City Genoa City has evolved to in recent decades. Catch that ariel view of it’s glittering skyscrapers at night!
Z – I thought of something I could challenge a bit. When you call Chris & Snapper a Romeo & Juliet story, I guess, only Snapper wasn’t the starry eyed innocent as was Chris and Romeo. He had a bit of a hipster vibe as portrayed soulfully by William Gray Espy (considered a sensation) over Hasselhoff who played him as a kind of surfacy jock. Snapper loved Chris, but she wanted to remain a virgin until marriage, with Snapper wanting sex now! And so loving Chris, he plunged into an affair with the local tall waitress in town at Pierres,… Read more »
Yeah, so Chris & Snapper (who got all the soap attention)’s story moved along pretty fast, considering, as they must have wed in 1974. As Jill was offered the job to work for Kay….
It would be fun to see how it all started, but there are alot of episodes that might be boring so they are trying to pick out the best episodes until they get back into production, .This shutdown isn’t going to last for50 years either

After commenting last week that I found how to find the classic episodes, I cannot find any of them for this week! I tried Roku, CBS.com online, and on the Iphone CBS app, and none of them have it for me. I still can change the season or scroll down to see the classic episodes from prior to this week, but none of them that aired this week. How are you all finding them?
I thought CBS Access would have them. They had the Masquerade Ball and the other ones that week but none since. I wonder why the daily classic episodes aren’t on, They should take into consideration there are interruptions just about every day
I sent an email complaint to CBS All Access because that’s how I watch the show regularly. After about a week, I got a canned response stating that not every show is going to be available blah blah blah. Personally, I think that it’s someone’s oversight; after all, they had the first Nikki/Victor wedding, the masquerade ball and so on.
I use Hulu Live for my everyday television instead of cable, so I’m DVRing it there. I had forgotten just how many commercials there are!

Haven’t seen it yet, but I remember this wedding episode well from not too many years ago as far as retro goes. This is right at the period where I had not been watching Y&R for a few years and then I saw this. I remember noticing that Chloe, Esther’s daughter seemed very selfish and determined to have things go as she would like. Billy, her bridegroom didn’t appear to be interested in her at all. (He was still mooning over his teen love Mac, a real snooze fest who was Brock’s daughter – right?) Chloe must have been one… Read more »
So Billy and Mackenzie had a thing at one point. It didn’t seem to go very far. I guess the idea was that once Billy learned that Jill was not Katherine’s daughter he was free to go after Mackenzie, the woman he really loved, in spite of the fact that he just finished pledging to be lawfully wedded to Chloe “’till death do us part”. What a piece of work that Billy is. However we do know from the vantage point of 2020 that Mackenzie later fell in love with JT. So if you account for the fact that she… Read more »
No blue dress. Got my events mixed up. Look at that Athletic Club. So realistic to old world dining establishments of it’s type. Society is for girls and the Athletic Club is for boys. AC is a house of brick. S is a house of straw.
I liked seeing Billy Miller as Billy he was so good in that role especially after Delia was killed by Adam. The cake fight was funny. So great seeing the ladies at it again. I never liked Chloe either always looking to get her way, she is a little better now, maybe grew up a bit.
Wish I had attended more weddings. The wedding cake has a fantastic sugary birthday cake vibe. From Ralphs!
Let me toss in the famous quote, “Oh, let them eat cake!”
I like and eat and make cake. From a box. Although hate to use up the 3 eggs.

I don’t think the soaps will do a specific s/l on the corona virus but might mention it in conversation
The Colonade Room maybe?

That was cold of her. She leveled that insult as if Esther was an inanimate object.
It was cold but I didn’t take Jill seriously as she had been drinking and not thinking clearly. Hopefully Esther understood that also and didn’t take it to heart. Jill lashed out because she was hurt. I took her words with a grain of salt.
I agree both Jill and Katherine throw insults at everyone when they are drunk but Esther gets it more than anyone.
HA!

Guess they had bigger budgets for sets etc back then. Maybe the actors demand more money in their contracts today
I am not sure why they had more money in the budgets in the older episodes. You could be right.
Because back in the day, the soap operas catered to housewives and they were in charge of the purse strings and advertisements was more about them and family. Hey isn’t she crazy Patty?
Yes that was crazy Patty, Paul’s sister in the bar, both her and Phyllis sporting cleavage lol
