I totally forgot that Nick knew Daniel was innocent in killing Cassie but he chased him down anyway. And then Nick got Phyllis pregnant a yr after Cassie’s death. No wonder Sharon is so hurt. I mean major ouch! I wanted to enjoy rewatching Nick & Phyllis’ wedding but I just couldn’t after knowing how it happened. Nick’s looks with the messy hair didn’t look great either to me. And the way Dina left the family again when Jack was an adult. So sad. Dina had so much potential. Y&R really needs their teen scene back. Everyone on the show… Read more »

Some edgier and more timely stories would be great! Days and GH apparently do that. What’s ironic is that back in the day Y&R was a leader is such socially relevant storylines – AIDs, date rape, sexual harassment, addiction, etc. They tried a few years ago with teh sex worker ring, but didn’t do it justice.

Yeah that sex ring story sucked! I hope the writers are taking notes. The Neil tribute episodes were great but other than that I don’t know if the show is worthy of an emmy. Remember that story of the girl from Kyle’s past that came to town & drugged people?! Devon dealing with Hillary’s death was good though. Victoria Rowell (Dru) helped bring in the adoption story so maybe some of the current actors will bring something special now.

I have to disagree about the sex ring storyline. It is a very serious problem that happens in real life and pretending it doesn’t exist doesn’t help get the message across.which is why the soaps do these stories. I just watched an old episode of the Facts of Life that I remember watching as a kid about prostitution. It is these stories that help to warn young people about the harsh realities and how to best handle the situation and stay safe.

I think having the sex storyline was important and applaud Y&R for doing it but it should have been better executed.

Yes they did have some storylines that sucked, I think storylines were better more dramatic in the classic episodes. They need to make the viewer feel what is happening, like to see everyday life scenes along with the danger and action scenes. Bigger budgets mean better sets and outdoor locations. What kind of scenes will be coming after Covid -19, only time will tell

Nick didn’t know Daniel was innocent until Cassie told him before she died. It was wrong of Nick to have an affair with Phyllis after Cassie died, but it often happens that a couple breaks up after a child dies. Nick & Phyllis getting married was no surprise the couples keep changing and will continue to do so.I forgot Dina came back and then left again, although was nice to see her healthy and so young

I thought the show was done well, except they showed scenes of Neil’s funeral then left him out of the Memorial segment. Congrats to all the winners, very deserving

Y&R’s whole emmy presentation was Neil’s funeral. Kristoff was likely memorialized last year, although the Daytime Emmys were not broadcast. I was surprised to like the show in quarantine. Although 2 hours, it seemed snappy and well paced.

Yes and none the the lame jokes the presenters always have. I never liked that. Neil was remembered last year. I think he was the first one. Jason Thompson & his acceptance speech was the cutest & I think best part of the show! His kids were saying I love you to one another & Jason had a huge smile on his face! <3 I would have liked to see the YR cast at the table, them on the red carpet dressed up & their reaction & live speeches but nothing we can do!

Not a Jason as Billy fan, but in contrast to his dark character, JT (not Helstrom) himself seems to have a lot of light around him and his crew.

I like Jason as Billy but was hard to shake his character on GH at first. My favorite Billy was Billy Miller, wasn’t so dark , that came after Delia died and he found out was Adam that killed her.

Yes. Interesting that such a light hearted jokester as BM instantly had to go dark beyond all limits. How much dark Billy Miller did we actually get? Didn’t he abandon the Delia ship to go over to GH pretty quickly after she died? Suddenly such a meaty role to choose to turn your back on… I don’t know if CHAT is still holding fast to their claim that Billy Miller will return to Y&R in 2020, but its a nice fantasy…

I know I mentioned this before, but feel the need to mention it again. In these classic episodes, we see the character’s bedrooms quite often. They were very large as well. I also loved the old restaurants so much better than today’s sets. They were much more realistic looking in size, whereas now they look like a set

GARY

Yes. What is it? I think the sets may look more like sets today because they are over decorated, like Society. Too much to look at over the actors. I think part of Y&Rs concept with the dark Hollywood lighting in the beginning was to bring the actor’s faces into the forefront.

I completely forgot that Ashley was once married to Cole. Lucky her. I liked Cole’s character. He was hot. Poor Victoria though. Her ex-stepmother marries him as well as her own mother having an affair with him. He sure got around.

I didn’t like Josie Davis as Grace Turner as much as Jennifer Gareis. I don’t really remember her on the show. I feel like she looked too old for the role and I don’t like her face nearly as much as the second Grace. Josie Davis plays in a lot of LIfetime thriller movies. They are all good movies. Her character is always bad.

Uh, did not expect to tear up at the end of today’s episode with Cassie. But this week’s Emmy-winning performances aside, a few highlights: 1. Ken (Danny’s video producer?) with his 80s hair and stash. 2. Danny hanging up on 911. 3. Neil and Dru’s sexy, stylized honeymoon video. 4. Miguel asking Jack a straightforward question about whethere he’ll have breakfast or wait for his wife and Jack saying “She won’t be down anytime soon” and then staring wistfully ahead while Miguel patiently waits. 5. Ashley slowly saying the words “ravish in the pounding surf.” God I love this show… Read more »

Ellen, apparently Michael Muhney debuted on Y&R 11 years ago today (or yesterday). Seems longer doesn’t it? This is said to be the same day Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson passed away, as reported on the bottom of the TV screen as Y&R played… According to a source.

Gary, I came across this video where Vanessa Prentiss shoots her son Lance. Unfortunately, the actual shooting is not shown, there appeares to be a glitch, and the video quality is decidedly poor, but you do see Vanessa plead with Lorie for her help in dodging responsibility.

BANG, BANG , I SHOT MY BABY DOWN: Van shot Lance? Sounds big(!), but I can’t remember everything! She probably couldn’t see past her chiffon veil as it must have been a bad shot aiming for Lorie?
Now she expects Lorie to be an accomplice in her cover-up? Typical Vanessa…

I understand that it was a big deal at the time. Lorie agreed to accept responsibility for Lance getting shot in return Vanessa agreed to leave town for good. The situation became complicated, however, after Vanessa announced she was leaving. Lance, unaware of the deal his mother made, persuaded her not to go so, in the end, Lorie was left holding the bag and getting nothing in return.

Seems like much longer than that! And what an awful day—Farrah and MJ! Is MM unlucky or does he make his own bad luck??? I see Mark Grossman didn’t win the Emmy his 1st time nominated. It’s okay though, I’m glad Bryton could honor Kristoff with his win.

I came across this YouTube channel with 36 complete episodes of “The Young and the Restless” dating from 2012. They are not exactly what could be described as “classic” episodes but just in case anyone is interested here is a link.

Ellen should enjoys these videos. There is Michael Muhney playing Adam and we get the opportunity to see the chemistry behind Mr. Muhney and Sharon Case. Another plus is that the first episode has Patty shooting Jack at his wedding ceremony. That scene alone is worth the price of admission.

I loved today’s episode – every single story! I kind of forgot that it was Jack who saw Nikki through her her drinking and sobriety and that special bond they still hold is about more than just being exes.

Also, how STUNNING was Jess Walton? And her embodiment of her character remains one of Y&R’s best.

And Brad, what a hunk. That’s all.

I felt the same way. I loved all the scenes and seeing the classic characters. Paul and Lynne at his old office, Brenda Epperson when she played Ashley, MIguel. I especially enjoyed seeing Brad and Traci on their honeymoon! It was very unexpected. I loved seeing the girl flirting with Brad. It’s very realistic. She was very pushy and forward I might add. Tracey looked so young and pretty. She had a slim face. She was very understanding of Brad’s interaction with the woman by the pool. She was very mature about the situation. It showed us that Tracey was… Read more »

Tracy never looked better than when she was married to Brad. Too bad he had such a wandering eye,but don’t all the men on soaps act like they are God’s gift to women? Traci handled that situation perfectly. It was good to see her happy and sure of herself
