Some rando thoughts I’ve had this week: 1. I love how Lily is handling Victoria — both how she’s written and especially how Christel Khalil is playing her. Lily is not intimidated by Victoria and sees exactly what Victoria is doing. Sometimes Lily calls Victoria out, and sometimes she doesn’t but you can see Lily is making a mental note about Victoria’s none-too-subtle efforts to undermine Lily and Billy’s budding relationship. I wasn’t a fan of Lily and Billy initially, because I thought “Clearly you have a type (handsome, smooth-talking screw-up), but why get involved with this Cane 2.0?” But,… Read more »

I am on the same wavelength with you. Lily does seem to have her eyes wide open about both Billy and Victoria. She will need to be vigilant! Kyle and Summer are pretty immature as a couple—so true! And the other YR Chatters here have heard me mock the way Lauren called Summer a “business phenom”—good grief, so unearned. The lack of friendships is definitely a weak spot. They just wrote out Adam’s only friend Chance and they never connect him with Jack anymore. It’s frustrating. The interrelationships are what soaps should be all about! Anyway, great comments & welcome… Read more »

All these comments are spot on. That’s true about Lily. In handling Victoria in the perfect way she does her demeanor gives her the upper hand. Sometimes she challenges Victoria and sometimes she doesn’t. She is not about to give Victoria amunition to get down in the dirt with her. “When they go low we go high”. Lily is the perfect blend of playing dumb and speaking frankly. And Vicoria is already intimidated as she knows what kind of great person Lily is and acknowledges it. How to thwart this relationship? And I agree that even in falling in love… Read more »

I like your wording, which I think crystallizes my thoughts on the matter in a better way: “Kyle and Summer are more impressive apart from each other” than they are as a couple. Some people bring you up, some bring you down, some bring out your better qualities and others bring out your lesser qualities. In this case, I think Kyle and Summer have not moved past that “first love” or “young love” phase. They act like how I would expect Faith to act, and she’s an actual teenager. Kyle, as a character, regressed when he left Lola to be… Read more »

Thanks for the welcome. 🙂 I used to watch and chat about the show with a friend of mine (both us started watching about the same time), but she gave up on Y&R at the start of 2020. I have missed being able to talk about this show. Sometimes Y&R can be so good. Sadly, it comes down to the writing. The actors range from capable to phenomenal, and there is a deep well of history from which the writers could and should mine their stories. Sadly, when the writing is not there, the actors can really show their disinterest… Read more »

New to this blog. Stumbled across your weekly recap on Youtube just a few months ago and listened to it on the way home from work in the car. And then discovered you’ve had this channel and been posting for years and years! How have I never discovered this before?! Love your recaps and commentary and insights and humor. I’ve been watching Y&R off and on since about 2008 (I think Victor was married to Sabrina and she and David Chow died in a car accident within a few episodes of when I started watching). In the 80’s and 90’s… Read more »

Starts shooting in April—bye Faith?

Please join us in congratulating Alyvia Alyn Lind (Faith, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) on being cast as one of the leads in the new Syfy series CHUCKY! “See you in your nightmares,” the young actress teased on Instagram with a wink.

Irony! She’s playing a nasty school bully!

“Lind will be playing Lexy Taylor, the pampered princess who rules her school yet still finds time to bully classmate Jake (played by Zackary Arthur). Jake is a loner trying to muddle his way through life in the wake of his mom’s death. While Jake doesn’t have much of a relationship with his dad — let alone any friends — he’ll soon find himself keeping company with the titular Chucky.”

At this rate of the younger cast leaving, first Sasha and now Alyvia, with at least one more that I am aware of, this show will need to be renamed to And The Restless.
It seems the younger cast is jumping ship and probably with good reason.

Funny. Because the show has for the most part tried to maintain it’s characters from the beginning-ish, we are no longer so young. I think the title was more an original concept for the show that never really was. I believe Snapper Foster was originally young and restless. Chris Brooks, the love of his life was unavailable to sleep with him and so he just had to go trolling for Sally McQuire. And such…

He sings??? Oh my! Now they HAVE to recast him as Chance. I’m picturing Chance and Tessa singing lullabies to the baby. Then they realize how great they sound together and voila—they do shows together at Society and Chancellor Park.

I don’t think he sings anymore Ellen. I am not sure, but I am thinking his music career never seemed to take off.

I watched an episode of Two and a half men the other day with Miley Cyrus on it. I was telling my husband that she used to be married to a very good looking actor but I couldn’t remember his name. I googled whom Miley was married to and a list came up of the men that Miley had dated, (LIam Hemsworth was the good looking actor I was thinking of bty) and Justin Gaston’s name was listed, I then had to see how the two of them would have connected as he is a soap actor. It turns out… Read more »

I don’t watch sitcoms, but fell hard for Two And A Half Men durning the pandemic. No more! Saturdays they had a marathon that lasted for 11 hours straight! I thought the sex com was so funny, but I burned through 9 seasons (or whateverit is) so fast and then a couple set of reruns. It would be redundant to continue. Yes, Miley was a love interest of Jake, but she blew him off. Dianna, who do you prefer, Charlie Sheen or Ashton? The series is really broken into these two parts. My favorite is Jon Cryer. He is hilarious.… Read more »

Yes you’re right Gary. His send off wasn’t heartfelt. The network was mad at him. I stopped watching many years ago. I only watched that one episode because I saw that Miley Cyrus was on it. I have not seen all of them. I stopped watching it when Ashton Kutcher replaced Charlie. I liked Charlie better. I love Ashton Kutcher and his movies but have not watched him on the show.

He was not a Charlie look-a-like or be-a-like which would have been a mistake. Fans of the series from the start are loathe to accept him but I though he was surprisingly good. He also gave Jon Cryer someone new to play off of.

I wanted to share this with the Y&R chatters. My dad had on Seinfeld the other day and Jerry was very upset with Kramer, as Kramer had left Jerry’s apartment door open when Jerry wasn’t there resulting in something getting stolen from the apartment. Jerry then asks Kramer what he was thinking when he did this and Kramer responds by saying that he was preoccupied because he was watching “The Bold and the Beautiful”. Who knew Kramer loved this show..lol

Kramer used to annoy me when Seinfeld first aired. Now I find him hilarious! I look forward to him crashing through Jerry’s door.

It was creepy when Chelsea was sitting in the wheelchair close to Adam in a spot we have never seen her, in their apartment. Even Adam looked spooked by it, as he thought Chelsea had moved there on her own. We then find out that Meredith had placed Chelsea there. The scene where Chelsea is standing up beside the wheelchair and then quietly puts up her hand to say stop before pointing a gun at Adam was unsettling as well. We then find out it was only a fantasy. Y&R is doing a great job of making this story line… Read more »

Liked that last scene. Kind of crummy that Victor is about to stab his own daughter in the back though. He has always used his kids to make them prove their worth.

I think it is the other way around. Victoria is about to stab Victor and Billy in the back. She first said she wanted nothing to do with acquiring the media company. But now that she is angry with Lily, she wants it, to go after Chance Com.
Like father, like daughter. I don’t understand why Victor keeps trying to put Adam at the helm of his companies, his girl is already his twin.

In the end, does it really matter go gets the credit? Cyaxeres (?) will belong to Newman Enterprises and guess who has the final word on who will run that company?

Ali could be on to something with her assessment that bad girl Sally Spectra has set aside her nefarious plans in leaving LA (the unscrupulous live in Hollywood) to make a fresh start in Wisconsin where she just wants to get along, only her devious past proceeds her ( She claimed to be dying when fit as a fiddle and then kidnapped someone in some kind of love quest – who hasn’t done this?) I think today’s S Spectra might be more appealing to her audience as a victim of everyone ele’s fear of her than just one more schemer.… Read more »

Sally never really was a bad person on B&B. Her final act of desperation—faking the illness and holding Felony Flo “hostage” for a few hours was after a long stretch of losing everything in her life. She worked hard for everything she had and lost it all through no fault of her own. She reacted badly—to say the least. So far it does seem like she is in GC for a fresh start. But she is no push over and will go right up to the line to get what she wants. Right now I’m just delighted that she puts… Read more »

It amused me when someone – I think Sandra, was correcting me on my assessment of Sally’s mentioned telephone sister “Coco” being some kind of devil to follow Sally to GC soon, by saying, “Oh I hope not. No. She’s actually this goody goody who we certainly don’t need to see”, or something like that…

True. Coco is sweet, honest, and gentle spirited. Actually, would be nice if Coco came to GC. She’s young and could fill that space on Y&R.
