I hope they do a week (or more) of Jack VS Victor!
Ok from a different barrel (but not so much different) ;). I finally watched the GC Buzz on Y & R official facebook page.( I was saving it for later for too long) . I had a breakdown lately and it really brighten me up . Seeing most of the cast sharing what they’ve been up to and how they are dealing with the situation, just the talk and all really got me into a positive mood. So to all you guys that still haven’t seen it, do it 😉
The decor from last week’s art gala was cool, especially the arches outside the front door. I also liked Dru’s necklace & Sharon’s outfit. Phyillis looked nice with an updo. Normally is straightened & parted in the middle. Kinda boring. Eww Damon. I never liked him. Dianne neither. I guess there are just some characters you never like either the character itself or the way the actor is portraying them. Raul is hot…even with the long sideburns! Greg Rikkart is really good when Kevin is creepy! That Colleen was my favourite. JT called her blue eyes & I loved their… Read more »
Kevin was really bad back then, he is a mostly upstanding guy now. Raul is hot, liked him with Brittney. That was the best Colleen, she was perfect for that role.
Ok John Silva is hot! I didn’t knew the name of the character but he got my attention thats for sure 😉 Sorry for this random and sort of shouty post ^^
He was hot and a good lawyer. Should be on now, competition for Michael and Amanda
One of the big things I love most about watching the old episodes is that we see the characters in their homes quite often. I liked seeing Traci in her bedroom at the Abbott mansion in her bed thinking about her and Brad’s relationship. It was also nice seeing Mamie comforting her. Now we don’t see any of the hired help, we only hear their names being said. I also want to say I am not missing seeing Sharon’s coffee shop, the restaurant at Society or the Grand Phoenix Hotel. I am enjoying the old sets and the mystery of… Read more »
The sets were more interesting . I liked Gina’s and the Colonade Room. G.et tired of same old locations
A discussion soaps & covid 19 https://www.cbc.ca/listen/live-radio/1-50-q/clip/15778273-how-will-daytime-soap-operas-fare-during-the-pandemic Y&R isn’t named specifically but its a general discussion. What will become of the slapping, makeouts or getting up in someone’s face.
Soapbox news: IG live with Sharon & Camryn (Mariah) https://bit.ly/2XIs7aL (you don’t need IG to watch). I wish someone had asked what its like to make out with sexy Joshua Morrow (Nick) for all these yrs! Ha! I’m so bad!
I think Stacy Haiduk is, or was, the best actress or actor on the show. Why do bad guys, or bad gals, waste so much time in talking? They would be a million times more effective if they were to shoot first rather than enter into a whole soliloquy on why they have this excuse or that excuse to kill you. When the shooting starts Kevin is the last soldier you would want to share a foxhole with. This whole imbroglio would have been avoided if he had simply grabbed the gun instead of running off looking for his girlfriend.… Read more »
Stacy H. is fantastic. My actual favorite Y&R character of hers was the normal one, Emily Peterson. She actually went ice skating with Jack Abbott once. I saw a bright future.
The most maddening thing in doppelgänger history was when Dr. Emily Peterson, psychiatrist, visited her patient, bottle blond Patty Williams in her psycho jail cell, whereupon Patty over took Emily, bleaching her brunette hair to blond in the tiny space without so much as a sink! She then rose to walk out the electric gates in the grand switcharoo of the century. This drove me wild. Was on the edge of my seat and could not wait for her to get caught, all the while out in society masquerading as Jack’s pure as the driven snow girlfriend. Lots of doppelgänger… Read more »
The idea that Y&R thought they could pull off and legitimize such a switch is something I never recovered from.
Wow! I forgot about this wacky storyline ala Friday’s episode. I don’t miss these outlandish doppelgänger plots—2 Laurens, 2 Katherines, 2 Jacks, etc. I’m always ready for these stories to be over. Keep it real (ish)—that’s my preference.
I totally agree with you Ellen. These story lines are so hokey and cheesy to me. The only time I thought this was very well done and compelling was the Katherine twin story. The reason I say this is because Marge had an accent which made her voice seemingly different. This has not been the case with the other characters. Marge also had a different hair style than Katherine and we would see her dressed in her uniform and not in the glamorous clothes and jewelry we see Katherine wearing. This is realistic and believable as many people have people… Read more »
Kudos to the writers and production crew on the carnival setting for the Lauren/Sarah showdown. I loved the use of the merry-go-round. The funhouse with the creepy clown statues was perfect for the shootout.
I think this wk’s poll question should be who was the meanest villain. Did terrible Tom make it into the episodes? I haven’t watched yet. I always found him creepy especially with the slow raspy way Roscoe Born speaks! He was great at that character. Actually he reminds me of Simon Black! Soapbox news: so I’ve always wondered if the actress playing Hope was blind in real life because she was so good at it. She isn’t! Here’s an interview about how she prepared for the role https://bit.ly/3dbY9m4 Ali, I LOVED that scene when Victor appeared in front of Jack.… Read more »
The winner has got to be Kevin. He was the most psychologically unhinged villain of them all. He evens makes Victor look good.
Kevin????! I have to disagree. I could always see his horrible, abusive childhood evident in him—not an excuse, but he was lashing out, desperate to be loved in his sick way. He still lacks self awareness and humility, but at least he is focused on positive motives most of the time these days. The most evil YR villain for me is Ian Ward. He knew exactly what he wad doing, calculated his behavior to cause maximum harm and he had no regrets.
Kevin? Open your eyes and look around Zoperxplex!
No way! Kevin isn’t the worst! Maybe if he continued trying to kill people but not anymore. I don’t remember too many villains but I’ll say Patty, Tom or Cameron Kirsten until I can think of someone else. IMO if someone tries to force themselves on someone else well that gets extra villain points. Also I think Nikki has killed more people than Kevin. I don’t think Kevin successfully killed anyone. JT was abusive & he pushed Victor. Has Victor killed anyone?

Shot down? Yes, but in my defense, I had to rely on the villains presented for the week. Can I plead the Fifth?
That changes everything. It’s like Ali asking, ‘Who is your favorite Winters?”, without specifying for the week or in life.
Good choice.
“Terrible Tom” is a pussycat compared to Roscoe’s demonic character on OLTL.
I have never seen OLTL although I did watch AMC on A.B.C.. If I go any further I will be liable of getting kicked off the site.
Yes. I always fear going too far myself.
At the Newman ranch gala, does anybody remember the follow up concerning the no food issue?
Nikki!
What? She made sandwiches?
Stripper, murderer and cook? Who knew?
2 things:
—how many weeks of reruns and not one glimpse of Adam Newman???? I protest.
—I’m still mad that Sharon Case didn’t get an Emmy nomination for the breast cancer story. And none of the “Abbotts” for Dina’s Alzheimer’s story? I’m sure there are other slights as well. I protest this as well.
Those nominations never make much timely sense. If you’re lucky enough to get your fav nominated, you just have to go with the flow of your good luck! Sharon is often worthy of a nomination (she won one once in the dark ages!), and something to surprise us: Beth Maitland was the first Y&R star to ever receive the award! Or so she said in a Facebook retro interview with Peter Bergman I watched a few weeks back… Of Adam, pity, Ellen. Mark Grossman is too new to get excited about seeing in a retro episode, I don’t think Y&R… Read more »
I keep hoping for a splashy ALL ADAM ALL WEEK EXTRAVAGANZA! C’mon Gary, let me dream LOL. You are probably right about MM, he is blacklisted. I would think a Justin Hartley week would draw some real interest now that he is such a prime time star. I’m not sure I want to see Ian Ward! He was a creepy villain for sure! So well acted. I need something more dreamy and misunderstood in my bad guys—like, ummm—say, Adam?
We know you are hoping for that splashy ALL ADAM ALL WEEK EXTRAVAGANZA, Ellen. We’ve got so much more down time ahead of us, Y&R will probably be forced to get around to it! Good luck.
I know it’s not what you’re asking for but didn’t we see a young Adam with Cassie on the Kevin episode at the gala? If that was Adam it’s funny to think in a couple of years from this episode he will be a full grown adult. I do hope we get some Adam episodes too.
Thank you Astra! I’m glad I’m not the only one. We’ve seen a lot of every other major character. I find it weird that Adam is so absent. Not much of Abby either—but at least a few scenes!
David Kimble was a real piece of work. I remember when David opened up his phony investment company. He had a button on the floor under his desk and whenever Nina would sit on his lap he would step on it to make the phone ring and pretend he was busy. He was definitely one of most ultimate villains on the show. My family was watching at that time, including my dad! This story line was very compelling as you had to tune in to see what he was going to do next.
Classic villain! YR doesn’t do those stories anymore? Not since Ian Ward?
That is hilarious! I’m giving thumbs up right now!
NO! Eeeeek! I withdraw my thought
It was pretty funny!
And you tell it so well…
Happy Anniversary Ali!! Thank you so much for all of your hard work and dedication you put into the website and commentary every week. It really makes watching the show that much more enjoyable!
Gina’s restaurant was huge. When Kevin was dousing the restaurant, we see how big the restaurant is. We then see him go down a hallway and into the kitchen. The kitchen set is very large also. We only see little bits of the kitchen at Society when Lola is cooking. We see a wall and the counter with the cutting board where Lola chops up the vegetables with the fridge beside it. Very different from the sets back in the day.
