Dina’s death made me cry as it reminded me of my mother. I thought it was very emotional which I appreciated but was very shocked to see her die on the chair in front of us. Y&R may have wanted to make it extra dramatic. It was unrealistic and somewhat cheesy how she had all that clarity with the children and but I think overall it was good for soap opera land.

I thought Dina’s death was handled well under the current circumstances. I agree it was totally unrealistic, but this is a soap, and sometimes it is nice to see things tied up neatly when they rarely would be in real life. Dina went out with dignity and class and it was a good ending to the story she was given. I like the character and Marla Adams portrayal of her, and I wish her story took a different turn. But if Dina was not going to get better, I am glad Y&R wrapped things up like they did.

I voted no. On Friday, I found Dina’s death emotional. Dina has been a part of the Y & R family for many years. She was a pivotal character for the Abbott family. Many of the Abbott storylines involved Dina on or off screen. I would have liked at least half of Friday’s episode to pay her due. I would have preferred to see Dina in a her beautiful downstairs room surrounded by the things which were important to her. Each child would come in and sit by her bed to say goodbye. As they spoke, classic memories would be… Read more »
One other addition I would include is to have Gloria sneak in to the Abbott home. She would give Dina her due and tell Dina of her sadness and frustration where John was concerned. With her Gloria flare, she would proclaim to Dina that John always loved her best.

I found Dina’s death scene to be beautiful, gut wrenching and exquisitely acted. I even like the neclace mystery, it gave the viewers a dose of Silver Fox Michael and his Ginger Fox Lauren along with some parting sentimentality and intrigue for Dina to go out on.

Yes, I am. Options were limited if Y&R needed for Dina to die now. Who knows when we will ever fully return from Covid? The Teardrop Of Love was a bit out there (The very idea that with Dina pronouncing the word “Bixby”, Jack would discover an old home movie of he being brought home from the hospital as a baby and that he would focus to whimsically latch onto a rock around Dina’s neck as some kind of secret code from her is preposterous, but hey, it was!) Give it to Jack to be psychically connected to his mother!… Read more »
