Love him. I want someone else to challenge Victor instead of Billy or Adam. I hope he can win a few rounds against the great VN or even the whole thing but not forever. Nick & Victor seem to think he’s the scum of the earth. Sure he lied which is morally wrong BUT he hasn’t done anything like physically hurt Victoria or kill someone…YET. He ordered the hit but we haven’t seen the results. I also like having an older character on the show. Maybe he can interact more with the people of GC & last a while. As… Read more »

Right now I’m loving to hate. I don’t wax so poetic about R.Burgi’s Ashland… R.Burgi HIMSELF is clearly likeable, of good character, and swoon-worthy, but his PORTRAYAL of a noble, “grateful for a 2nd chance” hero was not only a snow job for most in GC, but it seems for many viewers as well. As chatters have pointed out, Ashland’s past “misdeeds” were not youthful indiscretions to understand w/a repentant “I’m not that person anymore.” (Cue well-manicured hands carefully boxed around those words.) And his lies never stopped – unless exposed – and apparently are continuing. Shrewd but vulnerable Victoria,… Read more »

I have nothing but love for Ashland. I need someone that is not afraid of Victor and is willing to stand up to him.

This version of Ashland is downright smarmy. Ewwwwwwww. And he actually ordered that two doctors in Peru be murdered??? Is that right? Isn’t that going to look a bit suspicious when these doctors turn up dead? But I do like seeing Victor having someone formidable to tangle with and wondering just how low Victoria is willing to go to hang on to power. Should be interesting—if Ashland is a character they are keeping around long term.
I think some of the viewers missed that Ashland told the person on the phone to take care of the two doctors and the nosy American, meaning Michael.

These are 3 great choices over 2. I’m really stumped how to answer. I don’t love him for sure. I don’t really hate him, and I wouldn’t say I love to hate him. You answered this question for me when you said, “All the charm is gone”, which puts me in a kind of no zone zone. With this direct question I want to see how others answer. Because everyone involved like Victoria is so basically unsympathetic and not likeable my passions are not aroused to root for a victim so I am able to chill. Ali, I agree that… Read more »
No, wait. I guess I love to hate him. But I would love to hate him a lot more if I had the emotional envolvement of Richard Burgi playing him over this obvious LNM from his first scene. The emotional component was really lost in the transition, but am doing RN a favor in agreeing to love to hate him.
This time Ashland is the Loch Ness monster. Burgi didn’t get a chance to show that side of the character. Will Ashland be the first to best Victor and his family? Love to hate him for sure.

I think it’ll play out as “true love that blossomed despite it all” for both Victoria and Ashland – “Achille’s heel” for each.
I mean “Achilles’ heel.”
