I gave Chance’s therapy sessions a thumbs down. It takes up too much time. They could be showing more relevant storylines like the onegoing feud with Ashland and Victor, Chelsea’s attraction to Rey, Noah desperately trying to forget about Tessa,……just so much to unpack as Chance’s therapy sessions are just exponentially—BORING!
Seriously Gary, I get it that the SOAP is addressing PTSD. Most SOAPS address current real life topics from time to time. I get it. However, what they [SOAPS] also do is drag a storyline out for months and I feel that this one is one they will do just that. So far daily all we keep hearing is “Chance, it’s not your fault,” over and over. It would be different if the storyline was more intriguing, then let it drag on. In this case this storyline,to me is just boring as hell! Let’s just get this dude healed …”A… Read more »
HENRY – this is amazing. Do you remember a movie that got a lot of attention at the time, GOOD WILL HUNTING starring Matt Damon? I was just rewatching the movie I had seen several times on TV last night. The Matt character Will is a victim of the psychological abuse of his father and towards the end of the movie his psychiatrist Robin Williams finally breaks him down by saying over and over to him, “Its not your fault”, Its not your fault”, whereupon Matt crumbles into tears and is ‘cured’. I actually didn’t especially notice the dialogue of… Read more »
Actually, I feel that Abby uses the “Chance, it’s not your fault” line over and over . I really haven’t heard his “Shrink” use the phrase. Your comments are definitely “food for thought.” Now you have peaked my interest in the storyline. 🙂 How will his “Shrink” make him have a breakthrough? Be that as it may, I just hope it doesn’t take months to get Chance cured.
Oh, yeah, I guess Abby does say that. Chance is nice but I am sometimes expecting him to go bezerk, consider Abby a ‘you can do it!’ ( “Its not your fault”) nag when he needs space and start belting her or at least loose his temper with her. Only once has he spoken harshly. I don’t want to say anything else because people’s patience is short on this topic but one time when CC got back from therapy he started girgling with the baby in the crib and I thought his lack of bonding issues were cured! But he… Read more »

Thumbs up! for the exact reasons Ali out-lined so perfectly. I’m not completely sold (yet?) on the actor playing the therapist, but C.Floyd is doing terrific work and I find him very believable. I really liked the after-session scenes at home when Chance was able to de-compress and process some w/Abby. (Bonus points for his doing it shirtless!) The ‘sunshine and rainbows’ Abby so many Chatters (EXCLUDING me) didn’t like has taken a backseat to ‘supportive, but distraught for so many reasons’ Abby. M.Ordway is doing a fantastic job w/this material as well.

I am really enjoying the therapy sessions with Chance. I think it was a good idea of Sharon’s to have Chance speak with an ex military man rather than herself. It makes sense as this therapist can relate to Chance from his own experiences and give Chance a better informed assessment of how and why Chance feels the way he does. The therapist diagnosed Chance as having survivor’s guilt and would have the knowledge of how to treat Chance’s mental state. The therapy sessions also give the viewers a much better understanding of how Chance is feeling while also giving… Read more »
Yes they did. I never noticed the chair colour until you pointed it out.

I think it’s good Chance is finally doing therapy and that Y&R is showing it! Not just Abby and Chance talking about it. So far doing a great job, as long as he isn’t better overnight

It’s about time mental health therapy was shown in a positive light. (not Fairview hospital where baby switching runs rampant)
Speaking of lesbians – the old school definiation of the term, back in the 70s Leslie Brooks was trapped at Fairview where a lesbian who looked like she had been pulled up from the black lagoon (Macbeth) hissed at her, “Come here, pretty girl…” Scary. Who knows why I remember this but I do and then they had a knock down drag out fight with Leslie possibly in a straight jacket until staff finally pulled them apart. Corruption rules Fairview Mental Hospital. Then. Possibly now.

Wow, Henry. You don’t even want Chance to get well.
It’s not real Gary. He’s fine. 🙂

Also, Sharon doesn’t have an office, so we are also getting the added bonus of a new set which is always nice to see.
Y&R had the wisdom to know Sharon would not work in this situation at all. Nice green leather chair.

At Fairview, the patients would do a better job of running the asylum than the twisted sister staff of years back.

Is that where Chelsea was sent by Victor last year?
