I missed this pole, but here are my thoughts. In the real world I would say pump the brakes and wait for your significant other to return. In soap world, I’m looking forward to the complications that can unfold. With Devon volunteering I think we got to see how Amanda already has her “I told you so” dance prepped.

I was completely annoyed by the whole concept last week but there is a way that Y and R can make this situation very exciting. Although the chances are slim, I will put this out there. What If Devon has gotten both Elaina and Amanda pregnant? Can you imagine the jealousy and scandal that would emanate from three of Devon’s offsprings simultaneously? Also if Tessa decided she wanted to be pregnant alongside her lover Mariah. Maybe Tessa was able to surprise her by getting impregnated as well. How complicated and exciting that would be for those two women to be… Read more »

I’m so glad I waited to take this poll! Earlier in the week I was in a definite NO. The whole storyline was boring me, seemed weird without Chance and seemed like a vehicle for Abby’s narcissism.

But the Devon angle is great! Loved and appreciated the discussion about race and see how this storyline can not only make room for socially relevant conversations but open up so many other plot lines (e.g. Devon and Abby getting closer, Devon and Abby going to court, Devon and Chance having tension).

I’m in!

Totally in the minority here but I voted – yes. For now, i like that this gives these characters something to do. While not the best storyline in the world, the writers have struggled with giving Abby and Mariah long lasting and interesting storylines. This fills that void. Also, I kind of like the idea of there being this legacy baby that represents all of the core Y&R families. Would I prefer something else? Maybe! But it’s the storyline we have and I’m kind of okay with it.

NO! Chuck the whole thing. Should Chance ever return, in whatever form, they can start up again. What really got me last week was when I realized Devon is now wanting to get intro the act! NO! Mind your own business. My view is based more on an emotion than anything else. First you have Mariah, Abby’s maid of honor, soul sister procured to carry the baby. OK, what can you do? With the following news that Chance, along with Abby has fertility problems as well, well… I just think Devon along with Mariah is too much lovey/dovey family togetherness… Read more »

You made valid points Gary that I didn’t think about. Having an anonymous donor would be way less complicated.

I voted no, it was already weird and abrupt to take Chance out so the baby making should stop too. This is what they both wanted so it makes no sense to have Abby do it alone. I don’t understand why Abby is in such a rush anyway, she’s like in her late 20’s early 30’s she has plenty of time to have a child. I know it looks like it’s going in the direction that Devon might donate his sperm, but what if Rey donated a while ago and he was the father of Abby’s child. It would be… Read more »

Of Course I Voted No. The reasons have already been expressed.

Nope, proceeding without the guarantee of the husband returning is just plain dumb. I am sure, nevertheless, that they are going to go through it because Donny Boaz’s departure was unplanned and entire scripts are predicated upon this storyline.
