I voted for the 90s. I began watching in the 70s. I took a brief break for school . Then began again in the late 80s. It was a difficult decision because all decades have their highlights. The 90s is when Nick and Victoria were advanced in age and the Winters and Fishers were introduced.

I have watched on and off since the 70’s, but my favorite decade has got to be the 90’s. I loved the action, such as the masquerade ball and David Kimble dying in the trash compactor and Michael and Christine’s sexual harassment storyline culminating in Michael digging a tunnel into her apartment and Paul rescuing her. I also loved all of the corporate rivalry between Victor and Jack. And of course, my favorite storyline of all time started at the very end of the 1990’s – the battle over Victor’s sperm!
I have to agree with you Lisa. I chose the 90’s as well because of the Michael and Christine sexual harassment story line and David Kimble. The 80’s is a very close second as it also had many great story lines such as Farren and Andy, Shawn Garrett, Brad Carleton and the tension he caused between Traci and her sister Ashley just to name a few, although there are many more.

My apologies, but it is the 1970s. Yes, I realize others can have a different opinion. I suppose… Oh, sorry! The early stories are the ones that stick to those who watched them like glue to the ribs. Because those stories were so agonizingly drawn out, when they finally came to a head it was the emotional punch heard round the world! No “emotional filler”. Not much… The sets were more distinctive and original. The understatement used then you do not find at The Grand Phoenix or it’s sister establishment, Society today. Basically, soaps are all about tugging at your… Read more »
An interesting question would be how is 80s Y&R different from Y&R in 1996, versus the 2000s? I’m sure it is different, but I wouldn’t know how to articulate it without someone first throwing something out. 1970s Y&R is certainly more unique in time than all the other decades combined. Do Chatters think our much maligned current show is radically different from what we were watching 8 years ago? The one thing I would observe is that with Bill Bell long gone, what we get in the modern age is plot/characterization influenced by the particular whims of our latest arriving… Read more »

I voted for 1990s , I think they had better sets ,probably bigger budgets ,good storylines. Today’s soaps need to show more of the characters lives not just in the board room. Need to bring back Mamie and Miguel not just have Ester on the show, Need more personal stories.not just corporate take overs. Some medical stories would be good too.
