Ali, Tessa’s song played during the wedding…it was beautiful! Also, I agree Nick is looking FINE….I can’t get enough of that salt and pepper beard! And I miss Mia, too. She was a curvaceous, gossipy delight….every inch of her!
Y&R better watch out because with Mark Grossman’s range for emotion, he could easily get picked up by a primetime show or the movies! On Monday’s show I just felt everything WITH him. And if he stays on Y&R (for our sake I hope he does), he most certainly can and should command a salary to rival that of Eric Braeden!
He has become Adam. That was a difficult role to take on given the two actors that came before him—and he did seem young for the role. But you’re right, he’s really is very good. I hope they let the character out of this misery spiral sometime. What a nightmare he lives in.
I agree Mark Grossman is doing a great job! How long are they going to keep punishing the character for the accidental death of Delia?
It will be interesting to see how things evolve with Sharon and Rey. Maybe they will have what it takes for a long term marriage. However, I have zero doubts about Adam’s love for Sharon. Adam has a lot of scars from a life filled with horrible traumas. Rey doesn’t have any of that baggage. So maybe that is better for Sharon? I’m not convinced, but it’s not about “true love”. Rey is so new to the equation—he has a lot to prove before he is even in Adam’s league. Let’s see Rey stand by Sharon in terrible times, when… Read more »
If Adam doesn’t love himself, how can he love Sharon, as the psychology goes? You have zero doubts about Adam’s love for Sharon but Rey needs to prove himself? Rey is not in Adam’s league? It’s clear Y&R fans love Adam – I currently like him, but all his battle scars from a life filled with trauma that you are so sensitive to doesn’t necessarily mean Sharon should risk her own hard fought stability to take on. It’s just my opinion but I don’t think, through no fault of his own as we all have our crosses to bear that… Read more »
I didn’t say that Adam as written now is better husband material for Sharon. I said I don’t doubt that Adam loves Sharon. My point is Adam has gone through repeated traumas. Finding out about Victor, losing his mother, Delia, being blown up by Chloe, amnesia & losing years, being run over & shot several times—just to name a few. And being the most hated person in town, even by his own family—deserved or not. Of course all this leaves damage and scars. Rey has no such burdens to bear, that’s all. But Rey also doesn’t have the long history… Read more »
I don’t recall Adam nursing Sharon back to emotional health, but I’m sure he did if it’s documented. Mute point anyway as Adam moves to hero status as he moves heaven & earth to get Chelsea back on her feet. Only then will he be worthy of Sharon and he will grab her!
“I might knock my own daughter out of the way to get to Nate”… Is this Ali talking about Nate or Nikki talking about Cole (circa 1994) ?!?!?
So funny!
Gloria was Jack’s step-parent, albeit as an adult, but it is still gross.
Step parents having affairs with their stepchildren is nothing new on the show. Jill once had an affair with Jack and, even though this was a daughter-in-law relationship, Sharon went so far as to get married to Victor.
I really don’t get this even though many people feel this way. There is no parental or genetic relationship. John is long gone. I don’t see anything taboo about a relationship as they are two single, unrelated adults.
And Jack was far from a little boy in part raised by mama Gloria after she married john and moved into the mansion!
FAMOUSLY, Jack has his own mother!
(however absent)
That is why the idea of Victoria and Jack as a couple is so “icky.” Victoria was very young when Jack was her stepfather, and he still gives off a “fatherly” vibe when talking with both her and Nick. More so Nick, but it would still be wierd.
I feel that I must come to the defense of Gloria. Her character has been maligned and misunderstood precisely because she is an outsider; not a member of the 1% club. She does not appreciate the proper social etiquette of conniving your way out of uncomfortable situations like the Abbotts and Newmans do so majestically. I would like to offer the following biography which I copy and paste from the web site Soap Opera Central.com that will explain the entire story: Ashley began dating Paul Williams but was also being pursued by a mysterious man named Tom Callahan. What she… Read more »
I remembered all that and still don’t like her, but I can appreciate why others do, she is not my cup of tea, and not what I want for my Jack.
Ali, The song that was playing when Sharon entered her wedding was Tessa’s Song, it is called “More Than A Vow” by Cait Fairbanks. Next, I need to call you out on a retraction critique. Since you were specifically talking about the wedding attire, you have to take out the one about Tessa, she was not at the wedding. The feather jacket was Monday’s show, we she was having writers block about the song. (Just a little razzing). As for Mariah and Tessa being the token gay couple, you called it. Y&R need those “pink advertising” dollars. That is why… Read more »
Tessa was also part of a gang of grifters. I remember her speaking to a member of the gang on the cell phone describing the situation she found in Genoa City. Eventually, Tessa admitted, up front, what drove her to ingratiate herself into the Newman household.
If you remember, Tessa DID NOT seek out the Newmans when she got to town. Nikki was the one who found Tessa singing outside the coffee shop and asked her to help Reed. And, then yes, maybe she thought she found a solution to her life of poverty. But Tessa was actually invited in.
Also, I think in the beginning that was Crystal, that Tessa was talking to on those phone calls.
There are also vocal fans who want Teriah front and center with proper storylines. If soaps are going to survive, they need to attract a younger demographic. LGBTQ characters are not a trend or a fluke, they are a reflection of normal life. All soaps better wake up and reflect diversity of all kinds or the last 4 daytime soaps will disappear just like the rest of them have. Exclusively telling stories about rich straight white people just isn’t going to cut it anymore. We have established that I’m kinda ancient and I even I can see how dated some… Read more »
I agree with you One Thousand Percent. But it seems that Y&R is choosing to listen to the other side.
It’s odd that ratings are down for soaps at a time when so many people are stuck at home. The numbers should be up! It really makes me nervous for the future of YR. I’m sure it would be cheaper to put on another talk show than 5 days of scripted TV. I wish the writers would have a more current outlook on characters and stories. I guess Faith/Jordan is one younger story but they are the only 2 teens on the show! Where are the college age characters? And just mix things up re all demographics. It doesn’t have… Read more »
