I saw this coming with Danny B after reading his tweets. #ConfederateChance REALLY picked up on Twitter late last year. He tweeted some nasty things. His immediate firing was no shock to me. It was only a matter of time.
Do we have a link for these nasty tweets? I want the hard facts of the matter!
A lot of the tweets were removed by him. You could also check his Instagram. He was a Trump supporter and a lot of the back and forth got really heated. I always wondered if his comments on social media would come back to haunt him. There was even an online petition demanding YR fire him. I haven’t seen them act this quickly to fire a lead character since Michael Muhney. My guess. The actor did something bad.
Interesting. This is the first I’ve heard anything about it.

Okay, I was wondering why they would bring in Tricia Cast to explain his absence when they could just have Chance do it himself. This makes more sense.
Ali a bit of trivia. The YnR head writer Josh should go back to being an author. His times as head writer on 4 different soaps was between 1-2 years each for the most part. He is a CBS problem.
Daily soap dish.com has an online petition to bring Donny Boaz back to Y and R. After I signed it they asked me to donate $3, so it may be a scam. Just wanted to pass the info along.
Y & R has really gone and done it now. I have never heard our Ali this frustrated about the show! I can get cranky so I use Ali as my barometer. If Ali is perturbed, then things are pretty grim. I must agree, Y & R is confusing, messy, nonsensical and, again—choppy. And if they are making budget cuts—how does paying out Donny Boaz’ 3-year contract accomplish that??? That was news to me. Also, with vaccinations coming this year—paying off a 3-year contract is definitely not cost effective. They would only gain a few months of screen time with Justin Gaston vs Donny Boaz when “intimate” scenes could be filmed, then the whole cast will be vaccinated. Presumably Abby isn’t going to start smooching with her sperm donor right after Chance is presumed dead? Neither the budget nor the Justin Gaston swap motive really make sense to me re: Donny’s firing. He must have burned some bridges with someone important? But, they can’t make every actor get vaccinated… or can they? I don’ t know. With the “real-life couple” loophole, they’d get guaranteed FREE INTIMACY with Melissa and Justin, over Melissa and Danny (aka Donny).
They can’t require the vaccine, but anyone who refuses to be vaccinated might as well quit acting. What show will want to take on the liability & hassles of unprotected actors in an ongoing pandemic with mutating viruses? I can’t imagine that would be acceptable unless someone had a medical reason not to be vaccinated—and they would need to be pretty special to be worth the extra risk & trouble. TV and movies are going to want to go back to normal as much as possible.

Ali, I loved the passion in your podcast this week! I agree that it is discriminatory to only hire the offscreen partners of the current actors. No need to ask “who did you scr** to get this job? Anymore LOL. Like you, I have been a fan of Y and R for years and will watch until it is canceled or I am no longer able. This is a rather dark time for the soap, but it has endured other bad regimes and came back stronger and better before. We just need to be in for the long haul.
I am really displease as a speech language pathologist to see people yelling at Chelsea to force her speak. That would never happen. Why doesn’t she have an actual speech pathologist to help her recovery. I’m not a fan of how they are handling it for medical prospective. I do like the story in a disbelief way the drama of Chelsea and Sharon is everything.
Hey Sherrita—I was thinking the same thing! I’m a former special ed director and I know the SLPs I worked with would have been appalled by that too! So unethical. On a positive note I like that they cast a child actor with what seems to be a mild articulation disorder—Johnny. It would be a relatable story for the show to work that in somehow. Even if they just have Victoria and Billy coordinating their weekly schedules and mention Johnny’s speech therapy.

I have been aware of his “life views” for awhile now. Actually from when Y&R first hired him. So, they should have known too. I don’t know. But I feel everyone has a right to their own opinions as long as you don’t feel the need to force them on me. I feel like I need to raise my hand and come out of the shadows to say – I gave up on Y&R during the hiatus/classic episodes after a decade+ of being a loyal viewer. When the show came back I realized that I had moved on with my life and found other hobbies during that time. I will always listen to your podcast Ali because I love listening to your commentary but the show lost me almost a year ago. You can count me as one of the “victims”of Josh Griffith and his writing tenure.
I think I can come up with a better Chance off the canvas storyline. Chance begins to notice someone suspiciously lurking about in every corner. He begins to realize that his past is catching up to him. He fears it is the woman whose husband was killed by Adam. Chance is consumed by a sense of guilt. I think you can sum up Victoria’s state of mind in the following manner: Billy is toxic to me. Everytime we think we can make something out of our relationship it blows up in our faces. We bring the worst out of each other. However, I am chronically unhappy. If I am unhappy then the only joy I can get out of life is to make Billy as miserable as I am.

I think we are in store for a baby kidnapping story. I think Tessa will become jealous and she will want to become a mom as well. She will kidnap baby Chance and that will give the production team an excuse to give Caitlin Fairbanks the boot.

Non contract performers are the most dispensable commodity on the payroll.
Actually the opposite would be true in this case. Because they don’t necessarily have to get rid of them completely. You are not on the payroll. They only pay you when you work.
They would still be saving the money they are paying her and, as we have seen, there are lots of secondary characters on the show that top brass decided, at one point or another, to jettison as if they were so much excess baggage. I will agree with your assessment. Because anyone can be let go at anytime. I just mainly disagree with the way that you had my girl Tessa being jealous and kidnapping the baby. If anybody would kidnap the baby, it would be Mariah, because of the nine month connection or the sperm donor, being the biological father. But Not Tessa. Because unless we are told she can not have children, if she wants to be a Mom. She can have her own baby.
I’m expecting to get my pink slip (do they still have those things) too.
