I honestly don’t think 70’s Y&R episodes will ever be shown. The show was much slower and the powers that be probably think it wouldn’t be interesting to the audience. In all actuality though, I find that when Y&R was at its best, it was slow paced and character driven, like in the ’70s. Around 2006 things started to change and it hasn’t been quite that way since. If they don’t show any 70’s episodes, I at least hope Josh Griffith and the staff have watched these classic episodes and decided to go back to what made Y&R Y&R. It… Read more »

Does anyone remember this video with Hope in it? I always liked this song and many of Huey Lewis’s songs. He was hot. In fact, I think Y&R should bring him onto the show as a leading man. He is still good looking. He can act as well. He has been in movies and on the show Hot in Cleveland.
Watch out Victor, there’s a new guy in town!
Ali, I was wondering, do you think Y&R should air the last 2 weeks of episodes shown, before their hiatus, as a refresher for viewers of what was going on? Or should Y&R literally start where they left off.
I know I will need a refresher! I have no idea where we left off with everyone. They should at least do a recap show to get us up to speed.
I definitely need a refresher. I was out of my mind with worry during the last few weeks of Y&R before classics started. And when there were 4 shows a week and classic Fridays, my episodes were often interrupted/preempted with news. I plan to listen to Ali’s Y&R Chat for the last 2 weeks of March and all of April to get up to speed.
I thought this was interesting. General Hospital is re-airing the last month of episodes shown prior to their hiatus. It’s a good idea; it will remind their viewers of the most recent storylines. I wonder if Y&R will follow suit.
I am convinced the people behind “The Young and the Restless” shudder at the thought of telecasting episodes from the 1970s. Almost all of those characters are gone and all of the cast members are gone. It would be like watching an entirely different show. That would risks alienating fans that will inevitably feel a sense of lost and bewilderment. I am also certain that last thing the producers want is to let the public in on just how much fine tuning had to be orchestrated in order for the milieu of the show appeal to the sensibilities of modern… Read more »
Watching characters you don’t know would be boring, it’s like watching another soap that you don’t watch but I would give it a try
MaryAnn V – I just thought of something. Yes, watching characters you don’t know would be like watching another soap and boring – and why invest when after getting involved they will suddenly be ripped from you anyway, but, here’s the thing; If Y&R rolled from their very first dark ages episode you could nevertheless still be able to follow it and become intrigued because as an audience member you wouldn’t be walking into the middle of a story already in the telling but at its very start where the writers have the responsibility of engaging you in the introduction… Read more »
