I LOVED Ashley’s look when she was talking about the board vote with Brad too! I don’t know what it was about the hair or how they even styled it but I like it! That was a nice suit too. Normally I’m hit or miss with Ashley. Speaking of Ashley, that platinum blonde super short look was horrible. The one when she made the video about Abbey’s paternity. Never want Eileen to have that look again. Everything about it was wrong; the colour, length, cut…NO.

Hey Ali, Thanks so much for your chats. As I heard you reflect on Mariah from 2014. This is why she was so attracted to Tessa because they are so much alike. Also I think some of these choices of older episodes are clues to the direction of how the current writers are going to take some of the characters in regards to their attitude and behavior. Just my theory though.

Ali, this is a little off topic but what a HUGE disappointment! Did you catch The Story of Soaps this Tuesday night on ABC? It was a two hour love fest for All My Children and General Hospital and very little else! It was like an infomercial for a dvd set of these two shows or something. They praised Irna Phillips and Agnes Nixon but not a single mention of Bill Bell. Y&R, the #1 show since what, 1989 doesn’t get a mention to that fact?! I’m horrified and feel personally slighted. This is awful! I hope you saw it… Read more »

Oh really!? Thanks for the info Joe! I was wondering about that when I saw the previews. Good to know that it was going to be a waste of time. Its rather unfortunate they only focused on 2 soaps. From the previews it said Passions was mentioned. I watched that when I was in high school.

I forgot all about Clint Radison. I also forgot that Rex Sterling was Gina and Danny Romalotti’s father. I really enjoyed the outdoor scene with Brock and the thug in the alleyway. This was really filmed outside and not on a set. We never see that anymore. The police car driving up and Brock being put into the ambulance. Very realistic and not fake looking like we would see today. Does Brock die here, I hope not.

I am way off! I was just reading about Brock’s character. I see he was on the show in 2008. I am forgetting this all took place before Mackenzie. I forgot that the actor was Canadian as I remember reading this before. I really liked his character. I guess because he was one of the good guy as there aren’t many of them on the show.

More on “nostalgia viewing” and why it is a struggle for me to watch. I see characters that have moved on to other Soaps (specifically The Bold and the Beautiful) and just as I was getting used to them in their new roles, there they are back on the reruns of Y&R….Heather Tom….formerly Victoria on Y&R now Katie on B&B….the Brad Carlton character now Bill Spencer on B&B???? It took me sometime to accept the characters in their new roles and now…they’re back as if from the dead! This just really disappoints me. I wish they (CBS) would just fill… Read more »

Marionette artist and oldest daughter manipulating from above in THE SOUND OF MUSIC. This is a tid-bit worth it’s weight in gold. You don’t choose CHAT screen cap. Wonder if there is artistry involved from the automated process(?) as screen caps are mostly good, as opposed to you having your tongue hanging out of your mouth…

Really??? You have no control over the cover photo for your videos??? That doesn’t seem fair at all. Oh well, good thing you are photogenic. It would be a disaster for me.

They should celebrate a Seduction Week, a Wives Getting Caught Cheating in Bed Week, A Your Favorite Y&R Actress in a State of Undress Week and, you know me, A Lauren Week.

So I was listening to today’s YR Chat via headphones, per usual, while puttering around the house. Ali—your riff on not liking Blade Bladeson or other characters with dumb names like Ridge and Thorne—followed by your solid critique of the men’s scarf movement—it really got me laughing. I startled several of my cats. It was a loud outburst—several in a row actually. Thank you, needed that. Ummmm, Mary Williams was “a woman of her times” if her time was 1949, not 1999. She was so annoying—but I will take the spareribs. And yes, Tyler was so pretty is WAS distracting!… Read more »

I might be thought of as Mr. down memory lane, but I’d rather have new episodes too. Congratulations on another win, by the way. I heard your name called out!

Maybe you didn’t notice the change in how long each episode airs Ali because they were sneaky about it I remember them going down to 44 minutes then 40 than 38 but I do not remember them going to 36 minutes they are very sneaky (by they I mean sponsors and programmers)lol

My favorite rilval is Victor and Jack. Voted for Nikki and Sharon however because I was most entertained by them this week. He surprised me but I found them really funny

Should Esther be blamed because Chancellor Mansion happens to have a pest problem? I do not believe that pest control normally fits into the job description of household maid. Maybe Katherine was simply too cheap to hire exterminators?

Plus, Esther should be paid just for wearing that beyond stupid uniform! No other duties required.

Every one of us should consider ourselves fortunate if we come across an Esther in our lives. She is so sweet and sincere and naive and we can forgive her if it just so happened that she was once tempted to do something wicked, something that was against her character.

Never come to my house! I used to keep such a tidy, organized home—top to bottom. Now I just don’t care so much. Certain rooms get lots of attention, others are like Mrs. C’s attic. I don’t think the attic is Esther’s purview either. That’s a special project with heavy lifting involved. Esther does feather dusting, tea and gossip.

It is all the more baffling why Katherine Chancellor, with all her wealth, allowed the rodent problem reach the level it did. She should have hired her best friend Victor. He knows how to deal with filthy rats.

Cleaver comment, but rodent infestation is hard to keep a breast of and control.

This is the best job description of Ester’s mansion duties I have seen.

Katherine Chancellor seemed satisfied enough with Esther’s work performance. As I recall in her will she bequeathed her share of the mansion to Esther and a million dollars.
