Let me just put it this way. Friday afternoon I picked up my phone and popped onto Y&R Chat to see what other chatters were talking about. I saw a couple of posts about Dina passing away. I made a big gasp and exhaled tears and put the phone down. “What’s wrong Mama”?, asked one of my sons and I just said “”Dina” from Young and the Restless died on the show today.” I felt worse in that moment than I did after I watched the show that evening. I’m usually not a wishywashy person, but in this case I… Read more »

A+ for the week and it is only Monday! How astute is that for you to observe everyone is dressed for a gala at the beat down which tells you that scene is real! Bet your bottom dollar! That seals it! Everyone (social distance) gathers for an explosion! The more formal the event the better! Until others suggested it might be a dream I never considered that. It is reasonable to expect this revelation could come down fast in the modern age. Prolonging Elena’s guilt is complete tedium. Moving on! There are currently no invitations in the mail (on the… Read more »

Gary, do you remember, you and I had plans to be at the foot of Dina’s bed when the time came. We were going to be her mourners like in old Italian families. The ones that stay till the end.

I do, but in those plans we both knew we had to be flexible. Impassioned hearts that understood the inflexibility at the time of death, and you just couldn’t pin Dina down to that bed! Even at the profound moment of death the Mergeron magnet was on the move!
What a woman!

And pistol! Remember when Dina broke out of the Abbott mansion at night to party into town and burn down Nick’s bar in the process? That’s moxie!

Dina sitting at the bar of the Underground. She was holding a photo in her hand, who was it?

It was good of Nick not to press charges at the time.

Oh, yes. Was it the love of her life mystery man everyone was trying to uncover or was it…? Somehow it became the clue to uncovering her identity as a pyromaniac. I can’t come up with it. Somebody will know and may be kind enough to tell us… Brent Davis? The man behind the motel door? Dina was always pulling these rabbits out of her hat. She just had to throw in one more, the TOL in the end…

I know Eric Breaden is four years younger than Marla Adams, but at that age, four years could make a health difference. Eric has always commented on his activity and health–being really good. We don’t know the health of Ms. Adams, or any underlying conditions–which for Covid is a factor. Of course, we wish them both continued health.

Ali, I know you were saying that Faith may be depressed and not as exited about Sharon’s pending wedding. You are right about her and I think it may cause her to act out and start becoming that disrespectful sneaky teenager.
But I feel the opposite of Mariah, she is their little cheerleader and seems to more thrilled about Sharon and Rey’s engagement, than the bride to be(she actually had tears of joy). And she will probably be more devastated than Rey, when Sharon eventually calls off the wedding.

WEDDING BELL BLUES: It had not occured to me that Sharon would call off the wedding but plow full speed ahead as fast as she can until Ali suggested it. I was thinking she will be in a worse prediciment if she goes through with the marriage with Y&R granted the opportunity to bring even greater heartbreak to all with the sanctified union. This would add more texture, but now I somehow think Ali is right and she (he) actually will just call off the wedding…

I must heartily agree with a few things you said, per usual. First, Dina should have been wheeled in via wheelchair by a masked attendant, at a minimum. Then be helped onto a comfortable sofa propped up by pillows. That crazy throne chair was nonsense! And second, your mention of Adam’s chiseled bone structure in the firelight, well, that was very distracting! I’m having a hard time focusing on his legal defense. He really is just a brooding male model lately! I have some ideas of what he should do next, but then I get distracted again by the memory… Read more »

I think the whole Dina episode should have had more of Dina in it and that chair did look very uncomfortable to die on! But I did like she remembered everyone and said a few nice things all though that is unrealistic that she would all of a sudden come out of her stupor mere minutes before dying. And John should have come to meet her not just a voiceover, How many times did john’s ghost show up? This was the appropriate time.

When you put it that way – all those silly appearances including a ride in Jack’s sporty convertible to the beach, and then for something monumentious he’s a no show. How like life.

I don’t think all that realism is necessary at Dina’s time of death in this romantic concoction of a soap. If you force Dina to be “comfortable” by laying her out on a sofa she can not properly emote her goodbyes from a horizontal position. Coughing, gasping, and then just dying with her head propped up by a comfy pillow without saying a word is not what is called for, IMO.

But then you are a “Board Member” while I am only a “Guest” (checking, now I’m nothing), so what do I know!

We might make you Chairperson of the Board and make you do all the hard work if you keep lurking around like a supposed “Guest” Gary! You are one of our Professors of YR History, you can’t hide in the shadows.

Well, no—dramatic coughing and sputtering was not required. But to pretend she was wandering around under her own steam one second, sitting upright giving advice, then dropping dead gracefully with a head turn? Nope. Not true to the progressive nature of Alzheimer’s which is the story they were telling. At least show her frailty—as they did with somewhat with her physical appearance. She would also be very weak at end stage, not upright in a stiff chair. But a quick, noble death is fine and I very much liked her walking out the front door into the light. Would have… Read more »

Lily is taking her high and mightyness attitude a little too far. I am really hoping that Billy, in the course of their relationship, takes her down a notch just to instill a little humility.

Hey Ali, This week’s Chat had me laughing so hard, until I had tears in my eyes. Especially the part about Nick and the Multiple Pies and your nod to the camera. You are the best.
Loved It.
