Did Y&R give fans a good goodbye to Neil?

I have been watching YR since 1982. Loyal, longtime loving fan. YR did a wonderful job with paying homage and tribute to Kristof and Neil. I have saved the episode so I can watch it again later this year when my emotions are not as high.
They did the goodbye really well. I’m not a superfan but I cried throughout the memorial service episode. I think it was because he died in real life that got to me. And that Kristoff & Neil seemed like the same person. The lines were real rather than scripted. I would have liked to see Dru as a ghost & in fashbacks though. I think that was the one thing missing. Maybe they could have gone through the character’s life story as well (similar to Nikki).
Awesome to see Y & R give so much airtime to remember Neil Winters / Kristof St. John I’ve been watching Y & R for over 40 yrs and I’m very pleased with how this tragedy was handled.
Y&R did a beautiful job honoring the character of Neil Winters and the man Kristoff St. John was. The whole week wrecked me, but it gave closure to the fan base and probably to Kristoff’s co-stars.
Ali you did a great job too in this week’s Y&R Chat. I feel like we Chatters have been through something together, albeit virtually, but we seem to understand the enormity of what happened to Kristoff.
I would just like to say at some points during the funeral, and afterward at Devin’s penthouse, I could hardly distinguish between fiction and non fiction.
Sobbed into my throw pillow Thursday, felt a sense of relief as characters remembered Neil’s life Friday, laughed with the cast at fun memories of KSJ on Monday, and began to cry hard those last few minutes when the cast began to cry again and you felt the episode coming to an end…having that “this is really it” feeling. The service was beautiful, the celebration of his life gorgeous, but the way the days played out with the sense of loss so fresh for the cast/crew, it felt like we were in the room with them. We experienced it with… Read more »
They did a great job. I too had to wait to watch this week’s episodes. I had to take my contact lenses out . I had to wait till my family members were out. I pulled the drapes. I settled in to give Neil the undivided attention his memorial deserves. I laughed. I cried. I marvelled at how many people were touched by his kindness and generosity. And afterwards, I just wished that he could have been kind and generous to himself. What a great loss. OK now i’m crying again 🙁
Overall, I enjoyed the tribute to Neil and thought it was well done. It took me a few days to actually watch the episodes because I knew I would be sad. There are a few things I wished could have happened, though. I wished the actress who played Olivia could have come back because Neil and Olivia had some rich history. Even though I wasn’t a fan of Sophia or the storyline that involved her, it was appropriate that she was there because she is the mother of Neil’s only biological child. But, I could have done without a flashback… Read more »
Absolutely.
There was a few things I was looking for this week that just didn’t happen. I wanted to see Abby connect with Lily. They were BFFs last year. They were very close. I hate they didn’t show Abby reaching out to her friend. Not even a hug. I was also wondering why Devon went to his place to find Neil and not Neil’s across the hall. I’m guessing the set is used for something else, but it should’ve been mentioned that he sold it. I agree with you Ally. Jack and Ashley will be back to fighting in no time.… Read more »
