I voted yes. I enjoy it when it is young kids like Connor and Johnny’s age. I guess because I like kids. I don’t enjoy when it is teenagers for some reason. That is when I had stopped watching Y&R when they had the teen story lines on. It makes it realistic when we see that the characters actually do have kids as we actually get to see them and not just hear about them. I would not mind a story line with Connor, Johnny and someone from their school or Lucy. It could fun seeing Connor do some bad… Read more »

I like them. Mainly when the child actors stick with the show and we get to see them grow up and get the flashbacks of when they were young and restless from the get go… like Connor (I really enjoy watching his development).

I voted yes and surprised to see I’m in the minority. These 3 are really talented actors, and there’s something very charming and compelling about their innocence combined with their resilience from being a part of these crazy soap blended families. They are a little young, so it shouldn’t be a “love” triangle, but more of one where Connor is feeling left out and then Billy and Lucy somehow help him through it.

I voted no because their stories can be drawn on to long and loose it’s meaning and become boring as hell. But the separate dining table was cute!

No. They generally have me feeling like I tuned into a bad “Afterschool Special.” (Oxymoron…) Of course kids are a natural part of community and family life, but on soaps I prefer them as ‘props’ for adult stories. Connor’s confusion is only interesting to me as it serves the Chelsea/Billy/Adam dynamic, not as a ‘who does the pretty girl like’ conundrum. I’m not interested in his head-space (sorry not sorry to be so heartless re: a fake person, lol). For me, kid/adolescent scenes are usually stilted and pretentious-feeling… and painfully obvious as ‘acting.’ Catching actors acting bores me. By the… Read more »

Voted “No, not really” regarding kid-centered storylines. To me it depends on so many factors. The first factor being the age of the kid…..and secondly I have to have a good vibe for the kid. For example, I love the kid portraying Lucy. She is great. Connor had to grow on me a bit but in the end, I came to appreciate him. Johnny doesn’t do it for me….Faith is cool….So I’m all over the place when it comes to the kid-centered storylines and voting “No” was my best bet. The title of the show is the YOUNG and the… Read more »

Yes. If you are going to tell stories about families with children then their stories need to be told as well. Back in Y&R Hey Day. The children were all over the place. And with the exception of Cassie, their stories are being told as adults. Like, Cricket(Christine), Devon, Lily and Daniel, Kyle, Summer. They were once kids on the show. Heck even Nick and Sharon were technically teenagers with a powerhouse storyline. The other soaps integrate the their children’s/teenage stories. Some are up for Daytime Emmy Awards. Camryn Grimes(Cassie) still holds the record for being the Youngest Emmy Winner… Read more »

Y&R AT 50: Every Memorial Day for years and years Brenda Dickson would sneak onto the property of Mrs. Chancellor’s back yard where she would pay homage at Phillip Chancellor’s grave. Kay might be looking down ominously having pulled back the drapery from an upstairs window. Herein is the point where she would call out the guard dogs. .Private property. I do long for such days of yore but it would be a complete abomination in 2023 werte Y&R to summon Jess Walton pretending to be Jill to come and reenact the old game. Sans Kay, of course… HAPPY MEMORIAL… Read more »

I rely on you for YR history! The rivalry between Katherine and Jill was one for the ages! I suppose fighting over a man like that is a little dated—women are a bit more multidimensional on today’s YR. The most we get now is a few snarky comments and some water thrown in Nate’s face.

Yes, but THESE two women fighting over THE man transends contemporary ideas about the sex roles. All so melodramatic it can only be defined as classic! Today’s women not fighting over a man is a whole different ballgame than the complex set-up presented to the audience by Bill Bell in 1974. Ellen, thanks for the my knowing Y&R history compliment but I only remember what is important to me to remember. I’m sure i was there but I don’t remember Connor Kirsten at all! I just remembered: I think Connor must have gone down in 1994. I was a victim… Read more »

Actually the Cameron Kirsten / Sharon Newman storyline went down between 2003 and 2004.

I like baby switches and paternity mysteries, but I don’t care for stories where the kids are the speaking characters in a storyline. Right now, Christian is my favorite kid on the show. (BTW, I still think Bella is Billy’s.)

Troubled Connor is always trying to hoodwink his parents (as they are trying to hoodwink him) to the point where Chelsea must be thinking, “If only I could switch Connor for Johnny’, a true descendent of Billy Miller. But not really. Chelsea is devoted to Connor. The angst family.

I voted mostly yes. I kind of liked the story of Abby and step-son that caused her so many problems. Abby was getting gaslighted by this kid but the dad couldn’t or wouldn’t recognize there was a problem until too late. I am really enjoying this Johnny stuff recently – he’s a great actor and it’s never dull if he’s in a scene. Connor is interesting in that he has learned from experience the mopey kid routine works every time. His mom and dad hover and fret about what can be done for him – he gets special treatment because… Read more »

Another killer post. Yes, Mad Max was a cut above, like Johnny. Johnny, with less psychological problems. That Connor is some wild card. He was headed for psycho town a few years back but then he pulled back. Now he’s continuing with more head trips to lead who knows where? I had not thought of it but that is so entertaining, the idea of Adam & Connor being alike to where Ellen thinks the boys are raising the same eyebrow. That engenious Connor actor must be attempting to channel pop Mark Grossman. Now a chip off the old block. Like… Read more »

As I sit here watching the great Dawson’s Creek following 90210 I would say no. Sorry Ellen, I don’t need new blood. I have always gravitated to the old folks but occassionally a superstar like Johnny is born so let’s build a storyline around him with Connor whining about it and coming up from the rear. Please Johnny, a better girlfriend for you than the troubled Lucy. A girl from a VERY poor background to say the least.(Daniel excluded. Oh Your mother is that Heather one. She is a decent person, but the spawn of the boring drudge April. Who… Read more »

P.S. I was also always draw to Faith as a little kidnapped baby, little girl and now I am totally into her as a college coed with the new actress. If she survives Kirsten I need her back in GC for the big holidays plus summer break.

That is to say what other girls does Johnny know that come with less baggage? NAOMI, that was a killer post about Johnny instilling Connor with confidence! Sometimes teen stories take me back and I identify & root for them! Will Jenny, from the wrong side of the tracks, accept Greg’s engagement ring even though his mother says she’s not good enough for him? If the characters are right – that’s a big if – I wouldn’t mind setting up the action at Walnut High. And was it Connor last week who said with a wink, “Isn’t it everybody who… Read more »

Glad you are back! I would love a different take on these brothers. I would love to see Johnny mentor Connor to shake off his therapy kid persona. Learn to smile your way through tough situations – moping isn’t a solution and neither is therapy for the most part. Johnny could be the best therapy for Connor – WATCH AND LEARN, KID! – this is how you deal with a messy situation – take some time to think it over, accept it, move forward. That’s how Johnny accepted Chelsea as his bio mom and Connor as his bro. Also –… Read more »

Gary we missed you last week! This is what we need, no holds barred Gary! I wouldn’t want a lot of time devoted to the little urchins, but I do want a realistic, fully developed community on YR. I like the idea of a character from a working class background getting involved with Johnny. Heads might explode! We can see how well Sally has been accepted in GC—NOT. And Esther is still doing a fairly entry level job and not taken seriously by anyone. But no children at all? No—it’s too unrealistic for me—like pandemic YR was. No kids, no… Read more »

Don’t want to make this about me but i may disappear again. On my laptop there is no longer a proper link for Y&R CHAT to where we all are. I found my way on Friday but don’t know exactly where I was to do it again. What I do know is that somewhere, in the middle of nowhere it was “Y&R CHAT BLOG” that i clicked to take me home. I’ll be looking for that. Once I am on the site I am good to back history it for the week but a new week erases that. Another kid… Read more »

yrchat.com should be the only link you need, right? I know I have to use my phone for all yrchat business because my computer and operating system are so old. I need to replace my laptop before I lose everything stored on it.
I mostly remember Phillip from his brief returns to the show as an adult—maybe when Brock was around and definitely scenes with Katherine at the mansion. I liked the actor—I think he has had big parts on other soaps. Chance could use a father!

Oh, my. With that set up I would have to observe tthat the son, Chance Chancellor 5 would be the father with the father, Phillip4 the son! We are tlking maturity levels.
