I had to vote no because it’s Christmas, and my guilt couldn’t let me vote yes on this guy losing his job after you posted his picture up here! I will admit that there are some crap storylines – primarily the mystery of JT’s body and the odd behavior of the margarita coven. That said, it could also get worse! I’ve known times when I thought the show was worse and much more boring. I have particularly loved the speeding up of most of the storylines (other than the previously named disaster) that we have seen with Mal Young.

Please keep Nate away from me if God forbid I ever need hospitalization. What doctor would come out to a patient’s family, who are already keeping watch over a seriously ill family member, and expect the doc to announce, “She’s back?” What exactly is his role in this soap? He has no patients, doesn’t work but is able to pop in and out as an attending physician in the hospital whenever he wants and handle any and all specialties???? He has already passed himself off as a medical doctor, an exercise guru, and psychologist. What next? Who is responsible for… Read more »

Indifferent, but leaning towards bad thing. Reading an old interview from this Josh guy, he sounds so flippant writing off a million characters…which sounds no different than the characters who left this year. People love to complain about new characters on the canvas – including Eric Braeden on Twitter who I had to unfollow because the negativity was just too much for me – but if you don’t have new people introduced you’re not going to have a show in another 45+ years. Even the Newmans were new once upon a time if my history research is correct. Mia/Rey are… Read more »

I would be open to what a new writer could/would bring to the show. However, the 2019 new writer just wrote for Y&R five years ago in 2012/2013 and barely lasted a year. I would recommend listening to Ali Y&R Chat from Fall 2013 to get an idea of what the tone for 2019 could be for the show. I thought Y&R 2012/2013 was the most depressing era for Y&R and most TV in general until I saw Days 2015/2016 anniversary year. Both shows in those dark and dreary eras shared the 2019 Y&R new writer. Where some writers can… Read more »

BAD THING! mal young made y&r so exciting with the Rosales family, mariah/tessa, and victora being abused/JT’s death!

I can already tell the Rosales family (my new faves) will be moved to the backburner if they even stay at all. Mal did things other writers were too scared to and i’m really sad he’s leaving.

I feel sorry every time a member of the show is let go (with the exception of Caitland Fairbanks who plays Tessa, I can live without her). You get the sense that with each passing actor or headwriter the show starts to encroach ever so slowly but surely to that inevitable day when it has to confront its own demise.
