I loved Michelle’s Phyllis. She and Nick were so hot! She was not really a businesswoman. She was a schemer. And she did not like Christine! She and Lauren were friends. She and Michael were friends. I really love Gina Tognoni as Phyllis, she had big shoes to fill and she certainly surpassed expectations! She will be missed!
This poll is not fair Ali! I love watching both of them equally. They both bring something different to the role and do it with such finesse. I voted Michelle only because she is the original. But i truly love how they play the role equally. By the way my mom met Michelle Stafford in Aruba. She was nice enough to take a picture with her at the hotel pool.
Over the last couple of days I’ve been able to digest this shocking news.
I remember Michelle Stafford’s first storylines. I watched her character unfold and then develop. She was Phyllis to me.
Then came Gina Tognoni.
My conclusion is even if I was the one to originate Phyllis and did it for 16 years, I’d feel so freak’n insecure if I had to follow in Gina Tognoni’s footsteps. If I were Michelle Stafford, I would not be resting easy

I just wanted to say /add that I just appreciate Gina’s portrayal . Because not only she was unpredictible and sometimes over sexy but also lost , wondering about. I just seen a human . That’s all . Sorry for my broken english .
I think Gina Tognoni is an amazing actress. I love her. It’s not out of the realm of possibility for her to quickly land a role on GH or Days. I do remember Michelle Stafford’s portrayal of Phyllis the last time she was on the show. I wasn’t a regular YR watcher back then, it was when she and Nick were getting together, but I used to tune in every once in awhile. I love Gina’s portrayal of Phyllis. The recent scene with Jack where she asked for a chance, I’m at a loss to remember the details of the scene – but she was so hurt,angry and a little out of control with her emotions – I believed every word she said. Gina never is predictable with her portrayals. I watched her a little back on Guiding Light, she was never,ever boring to watch.
I have nothing bad to say about Michelle version of Phyllis but I voted and love Gina’s Phyllis and I am sad to see her go. I love what she has done with the character of Phyllis and think she is a very talented actor and done incredible on Y&R.

Looks like I’m going against the popular vote, but I prefer Michelle’s Phyllis. I loved Gina in other roles and never hated her portrayal of Phyllis, but I never completely adjusted to it either. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with Phyllis now that Michelle is back. I do hope Gina makes her way to GH because I would still love to see her on my screen because I think she’s a great actress, she just wasn’t my Phyllis.

I quit DAYS several years ago, at the same time I took my only break from Y&R. I returned to the later when I was pulled back after seeing, and being intriqued by the casting of Billy Miller, so a Gina casting may be what could lure me back to DAYS. I also once watched General Hospital, and quit that around the time Blackie went to jail (1984). I watched again briefly during the Stone AIDS story, and tried again when Billy Miller arrived, however they did not play that storyline adequately enough to lure me back in, so that… Read more »

Gina is the winner by a mile for me. I can’t tell you how many bad episodes I’ve gotten through specifically because of Gina’s constantly wonder performance. She is not only incredibly talented and gorgeous, but she is amazingly charismatic. She manages to carry every scene she’s in without taking away from any other actor. She’s a true leader and was the best all around actor on the show in my opinion. This has to be the most baffling casting decision I’ve seen in daytime.
Acutely accurate take on this
I liked Michelle when she played Phyllis back in the day. But after seeing Gina since, and not liking what they did to her, I hope things don’t go well and they hire Gina back with an increase in salary.
