I was definitely a disappointment. However I’m glad it happened. I do think the fall out is going be bigger than we expected we already see the rift developing between Lily and Devon. I don’t blame him for not wanting to go public yet or at all.

I voted good twist only because I was happy that Nate did the right thing. At the same time I was disappointed and surprised that Nate came clean so quickly. I find the show has big reveals that don’t have a climax. They j seem to go right to the conclusion, leaving viewers feeling disappointed.

I voted great twist. Definitely a twist. The Nate gets revenge by teaming up with Newman and selling his shares was very predictable, boring with no drama, except maybe a Nate/Victoria pairing. And that confrontation with Nate and Devon was deep, profound, overdue, and would not have happened if Nate had gone on without telling about his plan. A Nate and Devon storyline has a lot to tell, with drama, angst, history, and twists to a future bond—Maybe the Hamilton/Hastings company. The HH logo will be cool.

I voted a “Good Twist” for Nate’s confession for a couple of reasons: (1) It caught all of the fans by surprise and (2) I feel like the soap needs a “shot in the arm” sometimes and that was definitely a big one!
Actually, Not All. I just didn’t like they were making this choice to have a man of color self destruct his own life. Not a good look to me personally. Nate could have called off the take over without confessing. I see no fruitful storyline from this.
Sharod, I loooove that your observations always make me stop and think about my approach to YnR. Never thought to see Nate’s being a man of color as related to his self-destruction story… and I still don’t, so am not really bothered by any of it. Until I am actually on the YnR set, in its writers’/editors’ rooms, or in its producers’/show-runners’ meetings that prove me wrong, I’m taking his story face-value as independent of his race. But my opinion is literally one opinion, and – right or wrong – I personally see Nate’s story as having verrry interesting potentials.… Read more »

Voted disappointment! Imho, it would have been so fun watching Nate play the undercover traitor game until finally exposed. However, I definitely appreciate the twist! Love it when viewers like me think they know what’s going on but find out they don’t! “Re-writes” (if this was) don’t paticularly bother me. I’m looking forward to where the story goes now.

I used to be able to predict how these storylines would wrap up, but in no way would i have ever predicted Nate turning himself in. I voted “Good Twist” because I felt true shock when Nate walked back into the office and spilled the dirt. To add to this, I was impressed he protected Victoria. It may not have been what we all expected, but this story isn’t over by a long shot. I can’t wait to see how Lily does damage control (all while Billy is ready to jump ship and Devon’s endless “told ya so”s)…

VERY BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. He could have called the plan off, without confessing. By confessing he made it look as though that arrogant, entitled, selfish, Devon was right not to respect his ideals. But apparently this confessing thing is contagious. Because Diane will be doing the same thing this week to Jack. I get why she does it. Tucker is now threatening her. No longer a fan of Tucker.

Nate is lost—and needs to find his moral compass. But Devon is a Class A jerk and Lily is weak. I still don’t think Devon has ever apologized for causing Nate to lose his surgical career—apparently he has no regrets about that. That’s a monster for you. And clearly Devon hired Nate as COO so he can keep his foot on his neck, say NO to everything, tell him he’s a “beginner” with zero business experience and put him down. Devon is a small person who pretends to be all about peace, love and Neil’s jazz music. Really, he still… Read more »

I don’t know that this exactly fits into the topic of aborted storylines but it certainly rings a familiar bell. I’m drawing a blank but we have such a slew of suddenly ended stores in recent years where a big investement is made in something and then a character just changes their mind. Big set ups for things that are then just done away with where the audience might feel they have wasted their time. I thought the Thurs. and Friday Nate shows were interesting. With the return of Tucker I think the general consensus was that Nate would not… Read more »
I thought Tucker would get the company under control but we would get to see Nate found out after the fact not him confessing. Drama just got deflated. But now Nate is going to work for Victoria so That might be interesting if they can still pull the scheme off
I agree They didn’t avoid an ending but they eliminated the drama. It would have been much more exciting to see the mystery unfold. This was just everyone brow beating Nate. They just seemed to want to pivot to Tucker being the real competition. Nate is now just Victoria’s ploy to dump Sally because Victoria never wants Nick to date anyone. He has too much to do following her around. Devon is really hard to take too because he takes no responsibility for his actions, like so many chatters have said Devon takes no responsibility for ruining his medical career… Read more »
Re: question about Nate power play and his relationship with Elena. That maybe the reason. I think Y&R are going to put Devon and Elena back together. Y&R knew since last December that Mishael Morgan was leaving the show. Therefore Amanda would not be around for Devon.
Well, I’ve never felt I’ve ‘wasted my time’ watching YnR (unless buying into the whole premise of TV-watching being a general waste of time overall, lol). A ‘big set-up to a let-down’ is just another shift in story to me… some I like, some I don’t… but I enjoy watching both the fantastic cast and the whole inane spectacle of YnR, regardless. My downtime w/YnR is definitely time well spent for me!
When they seem to just abandon a storyline direction it is notable because in the old days there was a well thought out game plan and commitment to every begun plot, but throwing things out that have already been set in motion isn’t necessarly bad. It is a curiosity, but more like real life. When Ali wonders if Y&R’s story board is so unstable that they had a plan to make Nate a bad guy but then they recast Tucker and decided, no let’s make it him – so they repositioned Nate back again, I’m not so sure of that?… Read more »
Lol, ‘back in the day’ I thought soap stories and dialogues seemed to drag on foreeeeeeeeever. I could tune out for days… weeks even… and upon return pick right back up where I had left off. Zzzzzz. Now there’s BnB that zips along so fast and cuts so many corners (and plots) that it’s hard for me to keep up. And YnR? Dropped or never developed stories are just a tad of the seemingly endless litany of negatives that their fans (?) go on and on about. (Count me out of that camp.) YnR- it is what it is. Well, Ms. Positive that is definiately true. The Bill Bell days had storylines that went on for years without any real action, only character defining endless moments with the team too stubborn and committed to change direction mid flight. I said today’s start & stop is not necessarily a bad thing. SueW you are one who will take Y&R any way you can get it and that is a good thing!
Perhaps because of the way the Bell writing team hit you over the head wallowing in the same characters caught in the same basic story for years (except Kay & Jill), that may be the reason I didn’t like Y&R’s Covid The Classic Years. I had seen in all before with that saturate you with the material the first time so that you can’t forget it and don’t need to see it replayed again.

So, if Nate goes to work for Newman, wouldn’t that reveal whom he was in cahoots with?

Great theory, but I can’t count out a future Devon/Abby relationship, either. (As much as I would hate it.)
