How did Nathan Hastings Sr. die?

While married to Olivia, Nathan had an affair with a woman named Keesha, who later found out she was HIV positive (and ultimately contracted the AIDS virus and died). After Nathan was forced make this terrifying admission to his wife, the family was tested for the virus. Nathan, Olivia, and Nathan Jr. were all revealed to be HIV-free, but the infidelity and health scare caused Olivia to sever ties and prevent Nathan from seeing their son. Desperate and with his life now destroyed, Nathan kidnapped Nate, but realized this was wrong after a few days of running from the police. In the process of returning their son to his mother, Nathan Sr. was hit by a vehicle. He died in the hospital after an emotional visit from the family.
