I kind of wish they recasted the character of Ashley and didn’t go in the direction of her leaving. There are so many hurt feelings an animosity. But I can see all kinds of drama in the future with Ashley building her own empire and maybe returning (recasted or not) to GC.
I was so glad to hear you put into words the way I felt all week, and really from the beginning about John calling Ashley my beauty and just never disputimg her as his favorite. I was thinking I should add that I never felt less loved, not sure how to put it, but maybe just less special to the world not being the ideal. Like Traci, I struggle off and on with weight, so maybe like you speculated with Traci that is why. The three older sister’s maybe had it worse, I feel I was second best because I was labeled the smart one.
Gold Piece. That’s actually really similar to Ashley being called “My Beauty”, because it gave elevated value to your sister — and like Traci, it made YOU feel less than gold. Like… Silver piece! Wow. Thank you for sharing your family experience, Lesley! I’m really sorry you were made to feel that way. It’s also interesting that you point out: It’s not a measure of love, just of feeling equally special. Seems like that’s how Traci felt about Ashley… and how Ashley felt about Jack!

Disregard the Jabot family machinations. The writers set up Ashley’s return beautifully
I thought the writers were planning to have Ashley reconcile with her Abbott clan and ride quietly off into the sunset. What they accomplished instead was to render any potential return of Ashley into test of strength between herself acting as the new arch nemesis and her family. By deciding to take all her innovations with her and start a new cosmetic line in Paris Ashley has made herself into a formidable adversary to Jabot and to her family rather than a friendly rival.
