Cane The Imposter | How Is Cane Jill’s Son on Y&R? | Billy & Cane Rivalry Over Chancellor Industries

How is Cane Jill’s son on The Young and the Restless?

That question has a much more complicated answer than it probably should.

This Y&R retro recap looks back at Cane Ashby’s original arrival in Genoa City, when Daniel Goddard first appeared as a mysterious Australian bartender in 2007. Cane was eventually believed to be Jill Abbott’s long-lost son, Phillip Chancellor III. He moved into the Chancellor mansion, joined Chancellor Industries, and built a real life with Lily Winters.

Except Cane was an imposter.

The real Phillip Chancellor III was alive. Cane had been sent to Genoa City to take his place. And somehow, even after the truth came out, Jill never fully let Cane go.

We’re revisiting the whole complicated family tree: Katherine Chancellor’s baby-switch memory, Amber Moore’s Vegas scheme, the real Phillip returning from the dead, Cane’s marriage to Lily, Nina Webster uncovering the truth, Colin Atkinson arriving as Cane’s real father, Jill marrying Colin, Caleb’s fake-death twist, and the strange path that eventually made Cane Jill’s stepson too.

And then there’s Billy Abbott.

Billy is Jill’s son with John Abbott. But over the years, Jill often seemed to trust Cane more with the family business. From Jabot to Chancellor Industries, the Billy and Cane rivalry has always carried an extra layer of family resentment.

Now Cane is back on Y&R with a new face. Billy Flynn first appeared as the mysterious Aristotle Dumas before being revealed as a recast Cane Ashby. And with Lauren Koslow temporarily stepping in as Jill Abbott, this feels like the perfect time to revisit how Cane became part of Jill’s family in the first place.

So what do you think, Y&R fans?
Has Jill always trusted Cane more than Billy?
And what about Phillip Chancellor III? Why isn’t he a bigger part of the show?
